Was thinking the same thing when I saw that score. Falla's great on grass and personally hadn't seen him play on hardcourt but that's some beatdown.

That smacks of late-season attrition, I would say.

Some very good matches tomorrow. Here's the line-up: Wed. Order of Play.

All sorts of baked goods involved in the Falla win over Simon. Something's not right there...

According to l'Equipe, Simon has a psoas problem.. Wait and see if it's serious or not. If so he could pull out of Bercy ???

Ferrer wins with ease agaisnt Monfils, the German derby (Haas - Kohli) goes the distance.

I haven't been able to watch at all this week, but I was wondering if anyone had caught JJ? Hows he look?

I haven't seen him either, RB. He and David play tomorrow...rematch of last year's Paris final. Certainly Janowicz is more seasoned, but Ferrer has been playing some inspired tennis this week, judging by the score lines. Would have to be some of his best in months. It is his home town tournament, so I'll pick Ferrer in 3.

It is more than his "home" tournament, rather his "own" tournament. :)
I am glad to see both in form this week,

I will be rooting for JJ. You do feel like on indoors and grass (imo), if Jerzy plays his best, he has a chance against anybody. Then again, it goes without saying that David love playing in Valencia.

It's true, he has a financial stake in the tournament. I think that's mostly putting your money where your home is. By this year's line-up, I'd say they've been turning it into a much bigger event, over the last couple of years. It's MUCH less provincial that it has been, and is beginning to compete with Basel for top draw guys.

Correct, this year probably for the first time it was more depth in Valencia than Basel.
JFC seems proud of that:

Thanks for that, herios. I would also like to point out that it takes place in one of the most architecturally significant and beautiful spaces in all of tennis, having been designed by Santiago Calatrava, who is local to Valencia.

See one view, and another.
