Rob Reiner:

One of my fave films of all time: “Ghosts of Mississippi”

James Wood on Reiner:

beautiful words. It warms my heart that people of different political views can still have good relations.

I also love that he said emphatically, and more than once, what a patriot Rob Reiner was, and that people can come at shared patriotic ends via different means, but the love of country is the common feeling.

As it starts to sink in, I feel even sadder. Rob Reiner was a great filmmaker, and on my film threads on social media, so many stories of what a "mensch" he was. Just a good guy. A great director, and smart and funny man. Some of his classics aren't my favorite films. But he worked nimbly in different genres. And his sequal to Spinal Tap is about to come out. He surely had more films in him.

Chris Rea, who wrote and sang one of the most festive songs, "Driving Home for Christmas" and Fool ( if you think if is over) has died just 3 days before Christmas, age 74
RIP Chris Rea!

I'm very sorry to hear that. May he R.I.P. They're the songs I think of first when I hear his name too.

RIP Chris indeed. I used to play "Driving Home for Christmas" in the car, when I was literally driving home for Christmas after my last day of work.

I also loved the eerie "Road to Hell"

R.I.P Brigitte Bardot

In her hey-day, an absolute, natural stunning woman. By 1973 She would end her stage and screen career (including music) and became animal rights activist for decades. She was 91.

Good career highlight vid here -

coincidentally Brigitte passed away just three months following CLaudia Cardinale , another stunningly and voluptuous 1960's actress who was 89.

Here are the two, going at it in a scene from some obscure italian western -

Realistically, in the actual Wild West, there’d have been mud where they’re wrestling… :lol6:

Shocked to hear the passing away of Catharine O’Hara , her comedic skills unsurpassed.

From “Best of Show”, “ A mighty wind”, , “ Beetle Juice”, “Home Alone”, “Schitt’s Creek”, “six feet under”, “the last of us” ( dramatic role) and most recently “The Studio” The list goes on and on…..

She was so damn good for so long, a comic genius.

Was more a fan back when she was part of "SCTV!" Her characters were hilarious! Lola Heatherton's, "I love you; I want to bear your children!" :face-with-hand-over-mouth:
