He apologized profusely then & later during post match interviews! Glad I didn't see it! Sounds t/b close to the USO incident from several yrs. ago!
I think there was quite a lot more velocity on the shot yesterday. With the USO incident, he had to go because he hit the line judge, but the woman hammed it up so much you'd think she was auditioning for a Western.

Your joking she was hit hard in the throat and air waves were stopped
Cannot excuse Novak geez and the lines lady had to go to the hospital?

Big time! She was this "old bag" that for once had people paying attn. to her! She'll live w/ knowing, "I changed the course of this USO!" :angry-face: :fearful-face:

I cant believe anyone except for one eyed Novak fans, would give him a pass when he hit that USO lines lady hard in the throat, her air waves were blocked and she had to go to hospital
Then again yesterday his temper again was on display when he narrowly missed a ball kid
The umpire didnt give him a warning?
Quite frankly the sooner he retires the better as far as I am concerned he might have all the records in tennis, but as a fair sportsman he is not, he lied and cheated his way into Melbourne when the whole state was lock down in Covid, karma happened and he got deported thank goodness.
Back to the tennis I am over even talking about him.

Your version of her "hamming it up" has been discounted, I think. He hit her on her windpipe, with a straight shot. She went down immediately, if you watched the video, (or live, as I did,) gasping for air. That didn't look like theatrics, to me. If I thumped you on your larynx with my finger, it would hurt. It is unfortunate for Djokovic that it was a direct hit, but I'm not even sure it matters how much he hurt her. He hit her, which is against the rules.

Of course he apologized in the presser, after nearly hitting the ball kid, and did cop to the fact that it was a ball struck in anger. He's been lucky, more than once. The only thing he's seemed to learn is to be more politic about apologizing after the fact.

I said he had to go because he hit her. Likewise he would have had to go yesterday if that ball had hit the girl at the net. I'm not excusing Djokovic - the rules are there... but that's separate from the woman's own reaction.

Then it doesn't matter. So why accuse her of faking her reaction? I'm telling you I watched it live, and I knew immediately she was in trouble. And consequently, so was he. I don't know why you would accuse her of overplaying what she felt. As Margaret reminded us, she went to the hospital.

Typical loose start from Alcaraz. I'm going to predict he gets the break back before the set is over.

Excuse me for quoting myself, but, what did I tell you? He may not win the set, but he also may well.

Carlos got the break back as I also expected, just stating the reason was broken by Paul was his bhand went astray

In such a crucial stage in the TB which was stopped due to a medical emergency in the stand, over 15 mins now and the umpire is letting both Carlos and Tommy with old balls having a practice with their serves. Good Decision
Play has now resumed with Tommy serving
Tommy with a DF hands the 1st set to Carlos, he had his chances in the TB having SP and blew it, with ufe.
Carlos 76 (6) 1st set

That was just 'Sic fhand passing shot' from Carlos to break early in the 2nd set.
Carlos leads 2 sets to love 76(6) 64 over Tommy
Alcaraz d Paul in straight sets 76(6) 64 75 and will play either de Minaur or Bublik in the QFs

Poor Medvedev! The guy is being stretched again! This time it's Tien who's taken the 1st set off him w/ 3 breaks in the 2nd! Daniil's going 4 & 5 sets each match! How can he hold up being worked over this much before getting to the elites of the game? Sascha got thru fairly easily over Cerundolo in straight sets! :astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:
