Yes, the left arm probably is the one Draper uses to pick pockets and steal candies from kids, so it takes longer to heal.

That's really too bad about Draper. He seemed poised to establish himself as the "best of the rest" - he certainly was in the first half of last year. Hopefully this is just precautionary and not signs of a chronic problem.
Yeah, I hope this isn't another Matteo Berrettini situation, where a guy has a career year, then an injury happens, and is never really the same after that.

Jack Draper has 'severe bone bruising' in his left upper arm, usually it takes 3 to 6 months to heal, returning too soon can re-injure the bone or cause a fracture.

If anyone is interested the match between Nick Krygios and Aryna Sabalenka has started and you can stream it via Tennis Channel

Gil Gross comments on social media after the match,
'Didnt think I'd have any takeaways from watching that, I actually do have one. Nick Kyrgios is currently in poor physical condition by tour standards. He has six days until Brisbane main draw".

David Nalbandian, former world No 3 and Wimbledon finalist, his thoughts on Joao Fonseca, ( talking to new balls please podcast).
" I think Fonseca has a better fhand than me. The back hand maybe not as much. But the backhand is good, and he serves very well".

The ATP has announced the launch of a new Safeguarding Programme, effective January 2026, marking a major step forward in strengthening safety and well being across all ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour Tournaments.
Built on trauma - informed principles and aligned with international best practice, the Programme introduces a clear, global framework for preventing and responding to abuse, including cases of harassment, bullying, domestic violence and other forms of misconduct

I can't help but wonder about this kind of stuff. What has domestic abuse got to do with the tennis tour?

Domestic abuse is linked to the ATP Tour primarily through allegations against Alexander Zverev, which led to an ATP investigation and prompted the tour to launch a comprehensive safeguarding programme to prevent and respond to abuse, creating clear policies for players, coaches and staff to address serious misconduct, with Zverev's case prompting demands for better governance and protection.
In 2023 ATP launched an independent investigation into Zverev, concluding in 2023 that there was insufficient evidence for disciplinary action, though Zverev later settled a separate court case with Patea in Germany.

They should keep their beaks out of domestic issues. It’s nothing to do with them, then they look stupid investigating it. They’re a tennis organisation. What’s next? They’re gonna police everything players privately don’t do, just in case they do do it?

It is par for the recent course throughout different levels of society. We're going more and more towards greater surveillance, all under the guise of "accountability" and "safety," with catch-phrases like "trauma informed" and "best practices."

This is not to defend Zverev or diminish abuse, but the underlying trend is quite concerning. Its cousin topic--that of censorship/misinformation--is a good example of how the ruling class instills greater restrictions in the guise of "safety," yet it really has more to do with power and control. Or how the US "defends democracy" throughout the world...aka selling weapons and/or killing brown for their oil and minerals. Gotta stop the drug trafficking and killing of Christians!

Wrong forum, I know. I had a moment.

Well at the time of Zverev's alleged domestic abuse, there was a strong voice for the ATP to investigate, it wasnt a private case, it was brought to the attention of the ATP and they appointed a private investigation team to investigate., which was fair.
Remember Nick K was also in court by a former GF for abuse in a hotel room a few years back
These players are in the public eye and are younger fans look up to them, displaying abuse or allegations of abuse, to me is not the image they need in the first place.

It's on point, too. I sense also some bogus "mental health" pandemic incoming that they'll use to water-down competitiveness. Just let the dogs loose and watch em brawl. All the other private life stuff, as Don Draper told Peggy, that's what the money is for...

It wasn't fair though. It's beyond the scope for them. The ATP legitimised the complaints by doing this. And Nick, we ought to remember, pled guilty in court...

Nick K pleaded guilty argued the charge should be dismissed on the grounds of his mental health? which was dismissed, the police were called to the hotel room in Adelaide and Nick left and went to another hotel at the time
Zverev faced another charge of abuse which he settled out of court.
I am not opposed for an investigation of abuse by any player if it carried out in a fair investigation as I mentioned these players are in the public eye
BTW we have all witnessed the temper and abuse from Zverev in the Mexico tournament a few years back, abusing the umpire. he was suspended, from the tournament then allowed to play his next tournament? as far as I was concerned at the time he should have been off the tour for at least 6 months

He should. For abusing the umpire. That’s the kind of thing the ATP should police. But they’re not the police in the outside world. If a players partner runs to them to complain about what happened at home, they can give them the relevant number to contact with their complaint, and they can inform the player they received a complaint too.

And then leave it at that..
