Sounds like he doesn't like Sinner or what he brings to the sport.

I think the AlcaSin (LOL i reversed the phrase now that Carlos is number 1) rivalry is not only healthy but it's going to reach new heights. I look forward to seeing a new generation of what i call "offensive baseliners" that can change their game and come into the net the way we've seen Alcasin.

The assertion that Jannik Sinner winning the USO would signify the weakest competition in the "History" is not supported by evidence
Sinner was in dominant form, coming off an impressive HC winning streak

While some former players have described the current competitors as 'weak' in general, this is a subjective opinion and does not diminsh Sinners achievements

Jannik has been exceptionally dominant on hard courts reaching a streak of 26 consecutive wins on the surface in 2025, matched by a handful of other men in the 21st century!

Yes, especially following Cincinnati final where he had an injury scare.

Why serve alcohol at all ? Isn't that what leads to fury, disruptions to matches, like what we seen happened in Medvedev's opening round?
Look, it's a sports event, people are going to enjoy a drink. What happened in Medvedev's match was a lot down to Medvedev, let's not kid ourselves. New Yorkers can be rowdy, alcohol-fueled, or not. No one is closing the bar, let's face it.

yes the two guys have magnificent variety to their game and movement about the court...but... most importantly what develops between the ears is fascinating to watch in the context of a match (ie the point where they realize they need to change a strategy)
I thought Sinner's post-match press conference (posted above) was very thoughtful. He talked about making changes to his game, to improve it, and not just to beat Alcaraz.

I understand that. Yes it was, in the main, disrupted by Medvedev, i agree.

But it could have become a lot worse with the crowds who had too much to drink.

Agreed. They're both deep thinkers, that's what comes across, both in their pressers and how they play out their matches (like when they know they have to change their game)

To me Carlos serve has improved, I know he has been tweaking his serve before the grass season, it shone at this USO tournament.
I have always stated this as I am a fan of both Carlos and Sinner, Carlos does have a higher ceiling' than Jannik,to go to if/when needed.

ALcaraz's Greatest Hits...

LOL that behind-the-back half-volley is probably the greatest i ever seen in a tennis match!

It beats Mats Wilander, one-handed backhand winner in the 4th set of his 1987 USO Loss to Ivan Lendl or Jimmy Connors famous one-hander winner vs Adriano Panatta, QF 1978 US Open.

I posted when Carlos hit that behind back half volley I just sat back and ;laughed my head off he made it look soo easy, when it is probably the hardest volley to hit, he constantly amazes me

He's developing great hands and confidence moving forward, is going to become a better vollier than Federer, Djokovic or Nadal ever were.

i been trying to look for online what sort of TV ratings the two US Open finals achieved this year, remembering that they were low last year, but there's nothing available yet.

It would be good to find out whether the change of time on the men's final helped or hindered the ratings.

I don't think we are at the weakest competition in the sport, at all! Although there is a Top 2, there is a lot going on, otherwise.

I agree, nothing remains stat in our game, fans have to or need to move on, look I will be the first to admit I miss Rafa, and I probably will never go back to Roland Garros again, because of Rafa, moving on from the Big 3, we have 2 top players, with different styles of games, and hopefully there will be players challenging this year or in 2026.

The level of competition was used against Novak as well! How many around here talked about how Slams were being gifted to him w/o Fedal in 2023? I still SMH over the level of hypocrisy! I've been saying the overall level of play is "way up there" in comparison to the best! I joke about the 80's when players openly smoked & had "beer bellies," but still able to stay in the top 20! That just isn't happening today w/ players needing to not only be fit AF, but "going for broke" where red-lining is almost required to survive! We have truly talented players struggling to stay in the top 40 due to the high level of competition! Tsitsipas, Medvedev, & the others dropping like a rock in the rankings is sad, being replaced by even more elevated "ball bashing!":fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::exploding-head:

There was always pressure, but he’ll face negative scrutiny once people start to feel his perceived limitations make him a lesser player than everyone thought. The focus will change from the super-positive, which it is now, to something downgraded. He’s got a lot of love now but there can be a backlash, no matter how soft. Soon as he’s the default, any shortcomings will attract contrarians and negativity.

I hope he wins the WTF and Australia to bury those achievements early..
??!!!!???

Everyone always loved Nadal, it was Federer & Djokovic who faced negative scrutiny….

An objective & completely unbiased opinion

Zverev, as far as GS tennis is concerned, equals the lights are on but there's nobody home.
