Saba through to the QF with a 64 76(4) win over Mertens, she will have to do better if she wants to win the Rose Water tray at Wimbledon this year

Lovely 1st set of tennis from Anisimova, who is playing some good ball at Wimbledon this year 62 over Noskova
Noskova wins the 2nd set 75 she served twice before she finally won the set
A tight 3rd set and Amanda breaks to win the match 62 57 64 to make the QFs,
Well done Amanda!
Amanda will make her Top Ten debut after Wimbledon at 23 yo, well done Amanda,!

Mirra Andreeva played a great match, her all round variety really suits the grass she defeated Navarro 62 63
Andeeva will play Bencic in the QF

BTW,
Mirra Andreeva is the youngest Quarter finalist at Wimbledon since Vaidisova in 2007!

Saba will have to be on' "high alert' in her match today against Laura, who slices and dices use the drop shot a lot to disrupt her opponents play
Laura has been a master of her crafty play against Saba in this first set, broke Saba in the first game up a double break and will serve for the 1st set 5-2
Saba breaks Laura serving for the 1st set and to serve at 3-5
Laura will try for a second time to serve out the match at 5-4
The 37 yo Laura wins the 1st se 64 over Saba, btw that was the 1st set of tennis Saba has lost all tournament
Saba will now have to take the 'scenic route' if she wants to win this match and play first strike tennis against Laura

Saba losing the first set proves how weak this era of women's tennis is. A player like Siegemund would have never gotten this far at a slam, let alone challenged a top player in 2019. I can't imagine Siegemund being competitive against 2019 Serena. Even that version of Serena would have won that match 6-1, 6-2.

It is not Weak at all Phil if you knew about Laura and her tactics which work well against Big Hitters and strikers of the ball you would understand why for starters
Laura is a very clever and crafty player and I knew this would be a tricky match for Saba, btw it is the 1st set Saba has lost all tournament
Here we go again your assuming that Serena would have won the match 61 62

Any top player in the 2018-20 period would have beaten Siegemund comfortably. Maybe not 6-1, 6-2. But look at the 2019 Wimbledon semis, and how easily Serena and Halep won. Their opponents were way better than Siegemund.

Also more damning is that Sabalenka never went far in the slams in 2018, 2019, or 2020. She was aged 20-22. She only started to go far in slams in the 2nd half of 2021, at age 23. Of course, this coincided with players like Serena, Osaka, Barty, Halep, Andreescu either dropping off or retiring. If Saba/this era is so great, why didn't she win during that strong 2018-20 era? And you can't use age because Saba in 2018-20 is older than current Mirra Andreeva.
