Smoke won't be much of a factor. They'll close the roof(s) turning the whole thing into an indoor event.

See @tented's post above about the rules. As I understand it, and @MargaretMcAleer might be able to clarify, but it depends on the wind direction how much the air is poor. I guess it will be like a rainy Wimbledon, how much matches get backed up, but they will stop them if the air gets poor.

The outside courts will be affected to a degree. If the air quality becomes too poor to play outside, they will suspend matches and move as many as they can to a roof court to finish.

I don't know AP's intention, but I think he means right now. That's the implication. You can't really say he's not the 2nd best HC player ATM. Underplay it as a "nice summer," if you like, but it included the US Open title. Who else would you put in there?

Currently...No Roger and Novak are probably tied for the best hardcourt players of all time.
