I guess this year it would have been a good idea for players to train in China or India or wherever else smog is an issue, to get acclimated to the conditions.

Would you agree that Rafa is the 2nd best hardcourt player in the worldI don't think Med will win this AO. I also don't give much chance for Ralph. Novak is the obvious favorite. Tits might outperform other youngsters here.

The roofs are for the major courts. Those playing on smaller arenas may be affected.Smoke won't be much of a factor. They'll close the roof(s) turning the whole thing into an indoor event.
See @tented's post above about the rules. As I understand it, and @MargaretMcAleer might be able to clarify, but it depends on the wind direction how much the air is poor. I guess it will be like a rainy Wimbledon, how much matches get backed up, but they will stop them if the air gets poor. The roofs are for the major courts. I don't know AP's intention, but I think he means right now. That's the implication. You can't really say he's not the 2nd best HC player ATM. Underplay it as a "nice summer," if you like, but it included the US Open title. Who else would you put in there? Now or all time? Hard to say the best just because he had a nice summer last year! SO what? Fed had 5 in a row; probably only derailed from more titles by elite play and comebacks of Djokovic on 2 or 3 occasions! Nole obviously #1 leading with HC majors and Masters chps!![]()
Currently...No Roger and Novak are probably tied for the best hardcourt players of all time. Now or all time? Hard to say the best just because he had a nice summer last year! SO what? Yes, Moxie you are correct..I am referring to present day or currently.I don't know AP's intention, but I think he means right now. That's the implication. Federer wont even win a set if he plays Djokovic at AO, Medvedev the best chance of beating Djokovic in the final but likely lose before that seeing as he might have to play goat nadal.
