The Tournament:

The Miami Open is an annual tennis tournament for women and men, held, since 1985, in Key Biscayne, Florida. It is an ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event on the men's tour and a Premier Mandatory event on the women's tour.

The court has been criticized as the slowest hardcourt on the tour, subjecting players to endless grinding rallies in extreme heat and humidity. Src: Wiki

About Miami:

Miami is a major port in the southeastern US, and a leader in finance, commerce, culture, media, entertainment, the arts, and international trade. In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Miami "America's Cleanest City", for its year-round good air quality, vast green spaces, clean drinking water, clean streets, and citywide recycling programs. Miami was ranked as the richest city in the United States and is also called the "Capital of Latin America."

This would be the place where Serena wins her first title as a Mom.

The espn commentators were saying Osaka drew Serena in the first round. I did not check it myself though yet. More on this later. Stay tuned.

Edit: I just checked and confirmed. It is a blockbuster 1st round match as both of them are unseeded players at the moment.

I’ll pick Serena to win Wimby, but not before.

Oh no. Petra likely plays Brengle in the second round. What bad luck. Brengle is her kryptonite.

Serena's not ready to win anything yet. :nono: I see a vet winning this title since next gen took IW.
I like what I seen from Venus. She will be an very imposing figure at the net and I stated 6 years ago this should be strategic play against everyone.

James Blake set that first round up to derail Serena,he seems to not like Serena even his commentary on TC is very suspect and to imagine that he supported pova when she was caught doping..
Tommy Haas did the same thing to her at IW..what a bunch of...

I doubt it JB is a righteous dude.. the draw isn’t determined by the tournament director. Go back and read some of BB or GSM posts on the ATP thread..they explain how the procedure is run.. Besides.. An Osaka vs Serena final would be more advantageous for a Tournament Director in his inaugural tournament, IMO.

I’m picking Serena over Osaka.

Bouchard lost in quals. Maybe she should take her millions and do something else.

Boy, I saw that loss by Bouchard, too. She seemed motivated and aggressive when she started. She has lost her way big time.

This girl is on fire. She had +6 differential compared to -12 of Serena.

I watched only the last two games. In the last game, Serena was serving and made 4 UFE to lose the match including two DFs.

Serena may well be finished. With these newbies making waves on the WTA tour now, I don't see her her winning anything big anymore personally.

Hoping Serena regains her form. Having a baby changes a lot of variables.

It’s a shame usta didn’t support Osaka so that she plays for USA.

Lost in all this is Serena drama is the fact she might have come back too soon. She should have taken more time. At least 2 more months and come back during the clay season. Clay will really tune her up. It forces you construct the point and hit more shots which can help her gain a rhythm.
