Just when I was about to type 'this Sloane' she gets broken in the first set,she is a player that runs hold and cold.

I thought this 1st set would go to a t/break but Sloane breaks Angie,good returning and wins 7-5,her fhand has been good,though she has to keep it up in the 2nd set,can't afford to let Angie get her groove going.

Going 3 sets as Angie won the 2nd set 62....I did warn Sloane not to let her back in? I guess she didnt listen to me

Only the second time in her career.
It wasn't the same Sloane today that played Coco,shame,we saw some 'vintage Sloane' in that match.

Kerber’s looking good this tournament, but I think she’s going to lose to Osaka in the next round.

You know there were a lot of people ( including myself) thought Kerber would retire this year,she had been in 'the tennis wilderness for a couple of years',then she played Bad Homburg tournament and won,she found her tennis after that tournament.

I was glad to see Mugu get through, though I like both, but speaking of kits, I think Adidas is winning the tournament.

Fernandez has not been out played so far in her match against Osaka,Osaka did raise her level in the last two games of the 1st set winning 75....Fernandez has a lot of variety in her game and is not afraid to go to the net,being a left she is using her serve out wide to Osaka.Osaka first serve has improved and Fernandez hasn't been able to make inroads.

Just like the 1st set Osaka puts the pressure on Fernandez at 5 all with a great bhand down the line winner and she will serve for the match 6-5....regardless Fernandez can hold her head high,the 18 year old has competed well in this match,also she has a good on court demeanour not like some other younger players on tour.

Oh wait Fernandez has 2 BPs and she breaks the serve of Osaka for the first time in the match
