Match going to 3 sets,Serena 6-3 in the 2nd set.Venus really playing well,taking it to her little sister.
Serena has won 7 of the 11 deciders the pair have played.

After trading breaks in the 3rd set,Serena defeats Venus 36 63 64 to advance to the q.finals.

No one seems to care Williams went down against Rogers today! She was ranked outside the top 100, but with this 3 set win over Serena, Shelby's now inside that elite number! Gauff getting ready to come out against Jabeur to complete the Quarters!

Well from the 1st set it looked like this match was 'one way traffic' Serena 61 in less than 30 minutes
Rogers in the 2nd set played more percentage tennis,where errors were coming off Serena's racket.
Roger's fhand was on song in critical moments in this match,3rd set no player had BPs,went to a t/break.
Roger showed calm and maturity in the t/break and a well deserved win!

This is so reminiscent of past champions like Martina Navratilova! She was still winning early round matches, but in the clutch, even with a lead, she started faltering! That loss against softballer Halep in straight sets on grass at Wimbledon last year proves Serena has to be mentally breaking down!

Let us put things in perspective at the moment,with this pandemic,players are 'match starved'
Let's see how Serena fares in the up coming USO.
In regards to the Wimbledon loss,it was a perfect tactic match which Halep to her credit played to win.
Serena to me was not as fit as should could have been (carrying a bit too much weight) last year and her sound footwork deserted her when she needed it most.

How many times over the years does that happen? I am not surprised she lost to her next opponent quite frankly.

Who said it never happened before? Just stating fact; a big win foretells a loss in the next Rd.! It still has to affect the one who's been upset the day before!

It's just starting to happen a lit'l bit more w/ the "supposed" GOAT of women's tennis! Rogers' a WC outside the top 100 until this win!
