Interesting anecdote about the film being better than the book. I usually get disappointed if I read the book first.
He's right about that, though I'd forgotten some of the details that were changed. But it was pretty much just a trashy "airport" book. Also, The Godfather is an example of the film being far superior to the original novel. It was also pretty trashy.

Loads of Great Whites here mate.

I'm personally an Orca man when it comes to the Oceans. Talking of Jaws, they definitely "jumped the shark" when they had that half-eaten Orca on the beach in one of the sequels (think it was Jaws 2). Orcas are the real apex predator.
there's a woman on YouTube who is an Orca specialist. She's a great watch. We're learning more and more about Orca's, particularly that there are different sub-species, and some of them are not so friendly to humans. They're straight up killers and for sure are the apex predators of the oceans. If I can find the channel I'll post it for you

Orcas have been known to attack boats in Gibraltar and there's been many theories as to why. They are incredibly smart mammals (despite being called "killer whales" they're actually dolphins). We're lucky they don't have a taste for humans (yet). I find it incredible that there's never been a recorded attack by an Orca on a human in the wild.

Anyone remember the Orca movie, with Richard Harris? 70s ? It was no classic but it had a huge effect on me for some reason. I still remember the soundtrack.

Dad took me to see it back in '77 on my B'day in April! Supposedly whales, dolphins, & swans do have memories & can be vengeful if provoked! ;)

Interesting to know considering some still dispute the underlying theme of the documentary movie Blackfish where Orcas killed trainers in captivity. If you haven't seen it - that is a really good film.

I saw that film. It's disturbing. They make a very good case against orcas in captivity.

I watched “Hamnet” last night. Has anyone else seen it? It’s a beautifully made film, with stunning performances by the leads, especially Jessie Buckley. I won’t go into detail because that would easily lead to spoilers, but I highly recommend it.

I've seen it! I agree it's very beautiful. Jesse Buckley was amazing. It's her film. I didn't quite love it as much as the friend I saw it will, but there's a lot to like about it, and I recommend it, too. Let's see how many weigh in, and we can discuss.

Yes I recently say Hamnet, agree Jesse Buckley was outstanding, she made the film, I also saw Sinners another movie I love,
I will wait to see if anyone else saw Hamnet before we can discuss the film in more details

I loved Sinners, too. I know some people that completely loved it, and some couldn't deal with the horror aspect. I've been waiting to discuss that one, too.

Hamnet a remarkable movie centers on themes of grief, the healing power of art, and the complexities of love and loss, I thoroughly recommend this movie, one of the best films of the year.

What about movies that are so bad , like total 100% consensus bad, that they are actually now good? Some of those are my guilty pleasures. It is not like I watch them every day...more like once or twice a year but these movies are so bad that you just wonder at every scene, every piece of dialogue , how the hell did this thing ever get made...and why the hell I cannot stop watching it????
Examples? Sharknado movies, Big Ass Spider...
What is your "it is so bad that it is good " movie? No one is judging !

I absolutely LOVED the first 2 Sharknado movies. Outrageously stupid! Likewise, Snakes on a Plane, which I saw in the movie theater, the night it opened. Packed house, everyone was whooping and hollering, and I had my feet on the chair so the snakes wouldn't get me. LOL. Hot Tub Time Machine is stupid and funny. And I never saw this one, but I think it's the funniest movie title ever: "Dude, Where's My Car?"

Not much of a movie watcher, but being a fan of "Dance Moms," I watched a clip of "Sharknado 5" to see Abby Lee Miller get eatan by a shark! :face-with-tears-of-joy:
