That's not full sun. See how dark it was. That's the glare from the phone. If you don't have a special lens on your camera, it's impossible to get the kind of photos they were showing on TV.

I see it is dark. However, the shape was a full circle as opposed to some part chopped off and so I was concerned. Further, they said that if you don't have special equipment, you cell phone / camera might be cooked (just like you can get eye damage). So, I did not venture into taking pics even though I saw it.

All of that is correct. But if you turn the phone on selfie mode and hold it flat in your hand, you can position it to take a picture facing straight up. Thus alleviating the destroying of your phone.
