I’m amazed at how many of these films I haven’t watched

Menace to society; Paid in full; Belly; Poetic Justice; and Hustle and flow.. not seen

Someone told me Sinners is like From Dusk Till Down with black people...Well, sign me up as that is one of my favorite movies. I am not going to the theater for it though, it is too much money I will wait. :)

Here in Sydney where I live, I can stream the current movies after they come out usually in around 2 months, though I must admit sometimes for eg action films you need a big screen and going to the movies is a must, we have a half price Tuesday for movies not far from where I live, as the prices in going to the movies now is not as cheap as it used to be.

I can't believe I never saw the connection, but Ryan Coogler says it was an inspiration. Makes perfect sense. Let us know how you like it when you see it. it seems to be scoring high on the Tennis Frontier Tomato-meter.

I love the idea that DeNiro in this clip is the Opera and Ballet communities threatening Chalamet. Or even just his mother and sister. :face-with-tears-of-joy:
There’s something about Chamalet I can’t take serious. He wasn’t the only reason I didn’t see the Dylan film, but he was a deciding factor. Chamalet as Dylan was someone’s idea of passing alcohol free whiskey off as whiskey. He’s a boy band member. Saw him in Marty Supreme and he’s an actor of tics, not depth. Was so glad he didn’t get the Oscar just cos he seems so desperate to get it..

I am wondering if I should go see Project Hail Mary ...I like Weir and he tries hard to keep his stuff apolitical and these days, that is literally the only qualifying factor for me, besides money. I like Gosling. Visually this movie would look killer on the big screen me thinks.

I watched an old Brit-flick this week - Dead Man's Shoes.

It's only 22 years old (for those at the cutting edge of the movie industry). I can't believe I'd never even heard of it - and it was pretty good. Low Budget, Good storyline - based around a soldier who returns home and wreaks revenge on some feral rats who had tormented his retarded brother. I won't say much more as a few things unfold as it goes along - but a good movie.

The whole movie is on Youtube

Thank goodness the voting members of the Academy Awards, gave the rightful Best Actor award to Michael Jordan, he outshone Chamalet in the best Actor category.

watched The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Thought it was quite a good film. Can't believe I hadn't been aware of it when it came out. Only cottoned on to it when I saw the clip of the protagonist being interviewed by Kiefer Sutherland.

I just watched the Chris Pratt movie Mercy on Prime....so you don't have to.

Nah, you do you. One thing made me chuckle though. Without giving much away, there is an AI court with an AI judge in the movie. The judge is obviously a soulless , data driven, zero character type of woman as she is AI. I wonder how they picked the actress to play that..."Ok, we need a soulless looking paper thin character who is robotic...Wait, let's call Rebecca Ferguson!" I mean, is that a backhanded compliment or what ! I wonder how she felt when she got the call :)
