Bad luck for Venus she had to withdraw as she is recovering from a strep throat infection.Venus said she would be in Kuala Lumpur to honor her obligations to the sponsors and attend the Women@ Work forum.

I don't see any real competition here for Domi. She should be able to clean up well here and take home a Beemer in the process.

Domi plays 2 of these in a row, next week she is to play Morocco.
She better win one...

Now, I remember someone said they didn't know some of the names from last week's draw, how about some of the names played Tuesday?

^^That was me that said that and again the list of players I know here is a very, very, very, short list! That being said I thought JJ would win the other Tournament I didn't know hardly any of the players in, but she didn't. However, now I'm left to hope that "Pocket Rocket" won't get taken down here!

Believe Domi won her first match (against a Jane Doe) so we're on a good path :)

I am going O/Topic here for a moment

To whom it may concern

I have a suggestion

Could we have a 'General New's Post' for the WTA...

Thanks.

Of course we can, just start a thread, I think it would make more sense if it was done on a monthly or seasonal basis. "Spring of 2014 News" or "April 2014 News" would be a good title, or whatever you want...

Anyway, here are the scores:

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16, 2014

SECOND ROUND
[4] Patricia Mayr-Achleitner (AUT) d Danka Kovinic (MNE) | 6 - 4 | 3 - 6 | 6 - 1 |
Magda Linette (POL) d [Q] Lyudmyla Kichenok (UKR) | 6 - 1 | 6 - 2 |
[6] Zarina Diyas (KAZ) d [Q] Giulia Gatto-Monticone (ITA) | 6 - 1 | 6 - 4 |
FIRST ROUND
[1] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK) d [Q] Pemra Ozgen (TUR) | 6 - 1 | 6 - 3 |

Absolutely. Great idea.

[In case you're not aware of this (or maybe we haven't made it clear?), anyone can open a thread. You don't need to ask permission. :) ]

Nice to see Cagla Buyukakcay to become the first Turkish player in history to reach a WTA q/final.

I am just looking at Domi's playing schedule up to Roland Garos
I hope she is not 'over playing'?
