The BOK Event Hall has been the venue of a lot of former tennis tournaments, including Fed Cups, Hungarian Championships and ATP Challenger Tour events.

The Tournament:

Though there have been WTA Tour events in Budapest, the indoors edition of Hungarian Ladies Open is a brand new tournament.

The Hungarian Tennis Association organises this WTA Tour event for the first time.

About Budapest

Budapest, Hungary’s capital with a population of over 1.7 million. The city is bisected by the River Danube. Its 19th-century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district with flat Pest. A funicular runs up Castle Hill to Buda’s Old Town, where the Budapest History Museum traces city life from Roman times onward. Trinity Square is home to 13th-century Matthias Church and the turrets of the Fishermen’s Bastion, which offer sweeping views.

Hey Nekro, Welcome to the boards. I was thinking of you guys when tennis4you shut down. Sad it closed but I guess 13 years is a long time and Scott was just too busy.

You going to see any of the tennis?

Hi and thanks for the welcome :D Yes i talked with him since then too, he's too busy, his daughter's gonna play tennis at the uni maybe that will bring his enthusiasm back but dunno, tbh when the board was still up he was posting his tennis stuff like the PlaySight test and parts of his matches on fb already :S I think fb is just comfier for him to handle with his tight schedule...

Anyway, you're doing a great job here and i'm a regular reader.....

would like to watch some of the tennis in Bp but maybe next year, atm still in a transitional state so i'm tripping all the time between hun and ita :lulz1: But i'm happy about the tourney and will check it out for sure in the future

I'm happy Stollár Fanny won. She is built perfectly physically for explosive tennis and she has a very positive and upbeat personality. On her fb she posted many unusual and funky videos of her practices.

She's got a tricky second rounder with Annika Beck. What's Timea Babos profile like in Hungary? Pretty big?

Yes, she's popular, she's in the sports news all the time.

The juniors are covered well too here. There's this kid Piros Zsombor who won the boy's AO this year, i saw many interviews with him too, but i don't have too high hopes for him tbh. Fucsovics Márton was my big hope, he has lots of talent and he won Wimby juniors but then wasted years and now he's too old. Piros is too defensive for my taste and Rafa is a defensive fav who was enough for me for a lifetime :lulz1:

Atm i'm following Valkusz Máté closely cause i saw him play and he's good, he was jun no1, he has game and a serious personality, then we'll see what he can achieve on the atp. He's training at Rafa's academy btw :D

PS: sorry i got some male players in there :D

Anyway, Babos is good but I'm more enthusiastic about Stollár

These two have only met twice before in Singles, but know each other's games a lot better than that as they often pair up for doubles.
