This kid already has a mixed doubles USO trophy (with Melanie Oudin) and
men's doubles Wimbledon trophy (with Popsicle). He shows more promise than
other US kids.

He is one of the four under 21 players in top 100 along with Dominic Thiem,
Nick Krygios and Jiri Vesley.

Will he someday get his hands on singles trophy also?

As goos as Hewitt is (was) on grass, Ivo always got the better of him on that surface...I will be rooting for Rusty too.

As much as Karlovic is a sweet guy, you've got to root for Hewitt, at this point. And big BOOOO to Sock. Hewitt is still formidable on grass, but what about showing up to play? In case anyone was holding out hope, US men's tennis is floundering in a big way.

But, not US boy's tennis. Apparently, 7 of top 16 boys in Wimby Jrs are US boys including
both finalists and 3 of 4 semifinalists.

This is unbelievable and so I checked on it. Karlovic is 4-1 up on Hewitt overall and
3-0 up on grass and 1-0 up on hard. Hewitt's sole win over Karlovic was on clay. Finally.
that win was in a 5 set match in which Hewitt came back after losing the first two sets
in tie-breakers and then winning the 3rd set in a tie-breaker, before finally taming
Karlovic.

Having said all that, I root for Hewitt.

I was worried after he blew two championship points in the second set, but he hung in there against one of the most frustrating opponents imaginable.

Glad Hewitt closed it out eventually. Much prefer him over Karlovic. It would have been nicer to see some fresh faces like Jack Sock making it to the final this week but still, good job and decent progress reaching the semi finals.

Karlovic is off to defend his title in Bogota immediately after this final. He was outside the top 100 last year before winning that tournament, he's the second seed this year.

As an aside, Newport really need to find a way to attract a better field because some of the players that have been seeded in the past couple of years would be barely making the main draw at other 250 tournaments. Are they planning on moving this one before Wimbledon when they shake up the grass court calendar for next year?

They could have moved to before Wimby if they wanted. However, they vehemently
rejected the suggestion and wanted to retain their current slot and the ATP also decided
not to arm twist them.

Yes, their field is very weak typically. But, I don't think they are doing bad
financially, despite a weak field.
