Elvis has a new song out called "Wearin' that Night Life Look" a mash-up combo on two of his obscure songs "Wearin' that loved on look" and "Night Life".
This is the launch to the soon to be released, Baz Luhrramn EPiC (Elvis Presley in Concert).
It's received mixed responses, however.
Many fans are frustrated and livid that the new documentary and the soundtrack will be filled with mash-up's and remixes replacing original audio, which i certainly do understand.
When EPiC was first announced i assumed it was all about new concert footage recovered from an underground salt-mine in Kansas on Elvis two concert films "That's the Way it Is" and "Elvis on Tour". Nearly 60 hours of film was discovered.
Later it was revealed that most of the film was silent 8mm and so some of it was spliced to the matching audio by RCA/Sony while others needed remixes and will be filled by Elvis narrative.
And, to me, that's going to be the highlight of the 100 minute EPiC, is that Elvis himself narrates the movie - his life his music, his thoughts on his movies and musicians, without anyone else. This has never happened before in a Presley documentary.
It's an eerie concept, isn't it ? But there are plenty of interviews and a lengthy 1972 monologue that have been wisely edited together in context for him to tell his own life story.
Now here's the new mash-up, what are your thoughts ?
