Coco needs to address her DF count for the QFs she had 16 DFs in this match today 63 UFE and 20 winners? , overall not a good match by either player
Mertens had the match on her racquet 3 times in the 2nd set TB

Those are absolutely ridiculously bad stats! 63 unforced errors and 16 double faults in 3 sets?! That's more UFEs than Federer had in the 5 set Wimbledon 2008 final.

I know, Coco also has hired a Bio Mechanic Specialist late last year to help her serve, sometimes I feel it is more of a pressure thing she has now, he has corrected her toss and arm position for her serve, sad to say in that match against Mertens it was bad, the UFE was very poor for a player who is the No 4 ranked player in the world and holds 2 GS, Coco is a much better player, than that match, it was her grit that got her the win in that 3rd set, Mertens also was very poor, she had 3 MPS, 3 times in the 2nd set and could not convert. It is a match I prefer to 'forget period".

Pegula has found her game and played pretty well so far this season so Clara had to surrender in the end even though it could have gone Clara's way too - that's tennis. So we'll have to see how it goes in the doubles later - here are some statistics

Anisimova (2) defeated the defending champion Andreeva (5) in 3 sets 26 75 76(4) in a match that went for over 3 hours, in the final set
Anisimova had a match point when serving for it 5-3 and then Andreeva wins 3 straights games and gets broken when serving for it
Jess Pegula will play Amanda Anisimova in the SF

Just tuning into Gauff v Eala QF this is the Coco Gauff I am used to see playing she is up 5-0 in the 1st set
Gauff hands Eala a bagel for the 1st set, night mare start for Eala, can she reset her game for the 2nd set?
Eala has 21 UFE on her fhand alone she is pushing her shots and has had not a single BP so far in this match
Now Eala has a BP as Coco's serve has gone AWOL, Gauff played a great drop shot under pressure erases the BP
Gauff leads 4-0 2nd set.
Eala finally on the board, still has that lovely smile on her face
Gauff 4-1 2nd set
Eala with 2 BPs she has finally found her FH and Eala breaks as Gauff DFs
Gauff 4-2
Gauff breaks and will serve for the match 5-2 and a place in the SF
Solid performance from Gauff d Eala 60 62 and will await the winner of the next QF Svitolina and Ruzic in the SF

A great 1st set of tennis from Ruzic 63 over Svitolina, who is clearly frustrated with her game at present, Ruzic fhand doing a lot of the damage
Svitolina found her game, has turned around this match, cut down on the UFE from the 1st set and wins the 2nd set 62
Going 3
Svitolina finally breaks, she has been comfortable on serve in the final set and leads 4-2 and her experience in big matches is showing in this final set.
Another break for Svitolina and she leads 5-2 final set
Credit to LL Ruzic who has had a great week reaching the QF of a WTA1000 event
Svitolina will serve for the match 5-3 and a place in the SFs
Svitolina d Ruzic 36 62 63 and will play Gauff in the SFs

Pegula and Anisimova on court for the 1st SF
Amanda won the toss and will serve, players now doing their warm up
BTW this is the first time that 3 American woman have made the SFs in Dubai, with Gauff playing her SF against Svitilona later today
Amanda breaks Jess early on Jess 2nd serve and converts her break, Amanda has one of the best bhands currently in the womens tour, takes the ball on the rise and flattens it out
Anisimova 3-0
Great depth from Amanda on return, forcing Jess into error and breaks her to love
Amanda to serve for the 1st set 5-1
Great 1st set from Amanda 6-1
