Hey, take it easy.

There's still plenty of tennis to be played...and enjoyed.

Sinner will thrash Novak in the semifinal. Bring it On :)
I am with Calm Vince, I was just upset as Lorenzo was playing so well and then he got injured sad to say

Ah Margaret Bless you. Yes, i can understand and sympathize your frustration I often wonder if generation X is really match conditioned and prepared for the demands and twists and turns of BO5 Grand Slams. Other then the GS there's no BO5 tennis these days.

Lorenzo has always had problems physical wise and quite frankly his 5 set record isnt a good one, he has a fine game, he also said this is an area in his game he needs to improve, he is 23 yo,so he is young enough to get stronger

Then don't play anymore tennis until young man improves his fitness and maybe employ a sports psychology. Otherwise the same thing could reoccur at RG.

It's all good Margaret , Jannick will take care of Djokovic in the semis, so enjoy that game.

Is it a day or night match ?

I been watchin' most of Sinner vs Shelton QF.

There was some magnificent tennis by both, but Ben just could not break Sinner's serve and struggled to hold his service games mainly in the first set.

Loved Ben's hold in the 5th game, in the third where he fought back from 15-40 where he comes out of his comfort zone with two amazing volley winners in a row. Why can't he play more attacking tennis like this?

Wow, that is crazy! Did not remember that, at all. Still didn't win him the title.

Hey there Moxie. Yes that's right. Stan the man's going to be sorely missed what with his one-handed backhand, and Gasquet's retiring last year, its the end of an era.

Moxie, can you have a listen to The Boss' new song i just posted?

Ben runs around the court like a Chook with its Head Cut Off, he had no game plan against Jannik, no return game, his bhand is weak
he needs to find another coach

night match I will be live at RLA for both mens SFs and the final

That's good to hear. Because let's be honest a day match and with a forecasted warm-to-hot day , would have made him vulnerable, Jannick being a fair-skinned bloke.

Then what's the point of having on-court coaching? Ben wasn't listening is that what you mean?

This is an area that Jannik and his team have to work on, I thought he was going have to retire in his match in the 40c heat, he could hardly stand up, thank goodness for the Heat Pressure Rule when it reaches 5 play has to be stopped and the roof has to be closed on all 3 courts with roofs and the play was suspended on all outside courts,
Jannik had to retire last year because of cramps, he was drinking pickle juice in his match on the 40c day, still at times pickle juice can take awhile to Kick In

His main tactic seemed to be to hit the ball harder. I lost count of the number of shots sailing long.
Agree, Jannik has great hard flat shots on his fhand and bhand, and goes to the corners of the court, Ben thought " hey I will hit harder' Brain Freeze, he should have watched his margins., players like Jannik and Alcaraz can place their shots in the corners, their opponents try to do the same and end up with UFE

Dmitrov is Millennial and Lorenzo is Generation Z. Generation X was the Sampras/Agassi generation, and can span as early as Edberg and as late as Safin/Hewitt/Federer.

Press Conference:

Ben Shelton L 3-6 4-6 4-6 v Jannik Sinner, AO QF

Leo AI Transcript Summary

On Sinner's Performance:
  • Impressed by Sinner's return game and clutch serving
  • Identified second serve return as the biggest difference in the match - an area where he needed to be better compared to earlier tournament rounds
  • Felt he (Shelton) played well from the baseline, volleyed well, and served pretty well overall
On His Development:
  • Believes his level is improving and he's becoming "a lot less limited"
  • Acknowledges the game takes time and results don't always come when you want them
  • Now consistently being stopped by "the toughest challenge in the game" (top players)
  • Feels he's "close to bringing it all together" but needs that one breakthrough moment to get over the hump
On Mental Approach:
  • Wants to see himself get out in front in matches against top players, noting he feels "untouchable" when ahead at slams
  • Believes it's "a matter of time and work" - acknowledges he's not complete yet but feels himself becoming more complete
  • Describes himself as "an addict" who's becoming more addicted to the game and figuring things out
On His Evolution:
  • Has become "a lot more professional" with practice, match preparation, daily routines, and film study
  • Notes he's "a different player" than 12 months ago
  • Prefers hot conditions at slams when the ball bounces higher, allowing him to get it out of opponents' strike zones
On Training Strategy:
  • Confirmed he does formulate training blocks specific to top players like Sinner and Alcaraz
  • Believes matchups are everything in tennis and it's a big focus
  • Balances developing his overall game 360 degrees while also focusing on specific scenarios against top opponents
On Tactical Adjustments:
  • Needed to be more aggressive and intentional with second serve returns
  • Against elite players like Sinner, can't just put the ball in court and scramble - needed more purpose
  • Described the needed improvement as tactical rather than technical or mental
