They just mentioned the heat has now dropped to 26c.
All the courts with roofs RL, MC and John Cain arena, were close when the new extreme heat rule reached on a scale of 5
They will keep the roofs closed until the conclusion of all the matches played on those 3 arena's
Outside courts wont resume until 5.30pm because of the heat

and he obliges with the break. Gotta feel for the American - he didn't really do a lot wrong in that game.
Sorry I am in not mood to feel sorry for him, Jannik hit 18 aces in his previous match
Jannik needs to find his serve and shorten the points and get the hell off the court

I want to congratulate the American Spizzirri who never went away in the match against Jannik and made him bloody work hard for the win
Well done
Jannik what can I say I went to hell and back in this match, you were badly cramping but you made it through it somehow.

Yes, Spizzirri brought a lot to the match. Like Fiero, I'd never seen him play before either.
I watched him play Fonseca, though Fonseca was hardly competitive in the match, his fhand and serve were not firing, it was his first match of the year, Fonseca had to withdraw from Brisbane and Adelaide due to lower back issues

Just a reminder,
With the new extreme heat rule, when it reaches a level 5 heat stress scale, like it did today, temp did reached 40c all the arena's RL. MC and John Cain Arena they closed the roofs and they will remain closed, regardless if the heat comes down, for the conclusion of the matches
All outside court matches were suspended due to the extreme heat and will hopefully re start around 5.30pm

AO Referee.

BTW,
The players that were on the outside courts when the temp rose to 40c and their matches suspended due to Extreme Heat of 5 on the heat stress scale over 4 hours ago, , have been now called to their matches
The temp at 7.30pm in Melbourne is 38 c still very hot and the roofs remain closed on RLA, MCA and also John Cain Arena
