Really Isner? I think it's best he stays out of politics.

He said that? Dear me. Sport and international politics need to stay absolutely separated.

I tend to agree. Not because he is not allowed to have an opinion, he does. But what was he going to say if he was playing against a Palestinian player?
TennisFanatic7 said:Sock has played well this year, hopefully he can begin to push on into the top 50 now, and hopefully he won't be another Isner and rely on American tournaments like Newport and Atlanta for such a big chunk of his points.

No idea to be honest. Not sure who 'we' is either.

While I don't agree with American foreign policy, Big John's statement is an accurate reflection of how many Americans feel. And I agree in general that athletes should keep pretty quiet on this stuff, unless they are very well informed. No idea if Big John is.
Also go big John on getting another title! He has really maximized his talent.

No he did not. He should do better in slams than he does.

For a guy who serves as big as Isner, it's quite shocking that he's actually lost more matches than he's won at Wimbledon in particular with a record of 5-6.

In general, I agree, but I think that assumes all bodies are built the same. I think his physical limitations are most dramatic at slams, and that's why his best of 5 record is worse than his best of 3.

Physical limitations? Isn't this the guy who was involved in a three day long match
in Wimbledon and won it as well. Most matches are played in about less than half of
the time that match took.

I didn't get to watch much of that match, so I won't comment, but I watch a good amount of isner, and playing tennis, lateral movement in particular takes a lot out of him. Height like that makes side to side movement pretty exhausting. He also has a wider frame in general. He carries a lot of weight with him. I think he about hit his ceiling, might get a masters.

I did not say he was going to be a threat at a major for the title, but he should have been able to navigate though the first week in slams a lot better. He has really no business to lose to unseeded players there, unless they are some dangerous floaters. I know his movement is an issue, still he has done poorer than he should've.
