This is old news but i was able to watch sinner vs djokovic match. The nole haters saying sinner didnt play his best just probably had a hard time seeing a well past his prime 38 year old show why he was a superior tennis player to sinner. Sinner played very well; in fact, i saw roddick was shocked to see sinner served at like 75% first serves and lost. Sinner also had a great winner to ufe ratio, better than alcaraz in final. His stats were fantastic. It was the key points where djokovic was rock solid and more than not, won the points with aggreesive, high level tennis.
The h2h has been mostly sinner keeping his level, Nole having big ups and downs. I saw djokovic play close to his 2011 and 2015-2016 level but still below his peak but it was a bit of a taste of what would happen if these two played at their peaks. Sinner is not djokovic 2.0 he’s djokovic .5. Djokovic is a better athlete and more complete. Sinner has a bit more power but djokovic had enough power to take control of points. He showed sinner a glmpse of the level he once had when he thumped nadal in the ao final (second one) and toyed with federer for two sets in theit ao semis (6-1,6-2)… but back then he was just way better. At 38 is gave us a glimpse of what could’ve been but much worse for sinner had had he faced prime nole. Djokovic found his forehand against sinner and was thumping sinner from the baseline, very different to their previous matches where djoker lacked confidence and form. Djokovic’s forehand was lethal, had sinner running and on his back foot. Sinner is not at prime djokovic’s level.. let’s wait for sinner to be 38.. who will say he will be as good as he is now? People just know sinner and alcaraz are the future so want to prop them up as better than big 3 but in my opinion, djokovic, federer and nadal would be above sinner all at their peaks. The big question is where alcaraz would be facing big 3. That’s a trickier one.
