Both Carlos and Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will receive $2.3 m to play in an exhibition match in Seoul.
That's more than the runner up in the Australian Open will receive and almost as much as the winner :)

Jiri Lehecka, defending champion at Brisbane International was forced to retire in his 2nd round match due to a ankle injury, hopefully he will be okay for AO, Seb Korder through 63 1-2

Another player under an injury cloud is Taylor Fritz, who in the off season has been re-habing his knee, he said it is still painful and will continue to do rehab while he travels, though if it gets to a point when it becomes too painful he will stop and have time off the tour. Taylor is currently in Team USA for United Cup, he lost his singles match to Tsitsipas today,in straight sets, though Team USA., who are the defending champions won the mixed doubles ( with Gauff and Christian Harrison) and have qualified for the SFs to take place in Sydney.
rehabbing while still playing exho's in Dec. i'm not trying to hear this madness from any player not ready to go in Oz

The player that has caught the attention at the United Cup is Hubi, he defeated Zverev in straight sets, Zverev had his usual hissy fit and could not believe that Hubi who has been off the tour for 7 months could come back and beat him, his serving was impressive.Hubi will be unseeded at the AO
Servebot been eating his Wheaties for breakfast and cabbage for lunch. Still can't buy a return though.

he really looked out of shape during that exho w/ Saba. He was sweating buckets during and breathing heavy.

Well give him time, he has been off the tour for 7 months and he really got under Sasha's skin in the match, Sasha started yelling 4 letter words to his dad, lets see how he does in his next singles match at the United Cup against Alex de Minaur

Bergs seems to have a hot hand. I don't like Stan's chances, but I hope they're playing it on TC.

Actually Bergs has been playing well above his weight at the United Cup all week, he will be hard to beat, he has beaten FAA and also Mensik in his singles matches, also plays doubles

Bergs got very tight in the 2nd set and didnt play as freely as he has all week, 19 UFE and just 3 winners
Wawrinka won the 2nd set 76(4) more control than Bergs
Going 3 sets now, both men taking a toilet break.
Stan towards the latter part of the 3rd set, started to chip and his footwork was slow, and was broken by Bergs
Bergs d Wawrinka 63 67(4) 63
This tie is now 1 all
The mixed doubles match will decide which team will play in the final tomorrow
Mixed doubles teams, ( there has been a change Stan Wawrinka wont be playing, he has been sick the last couple of days, with flu like symptom's)
Swiss team, Belinda Bencic and JP Paul
Belgium team, Elise Mertens and Bergs.
Team Swiss is the first team into the United Cup Final d Belgium in the 10 point TB 10-5, they turned it around after Belgium handed them a bagel in the 2nd set.
Swiss d Belgium 63 06 10-5

USA the defending champions will play Poland in the night match tonight in Sydney

Joao Fonseca who was on site at the Adelaide International has withdrawn last minute, he isnt in the draw, maybe the lower back is still giving him discomfort
Fonseca has come on social media and said due to an injury he had to withdraw, he said hopefully he can come back stronger next year to compete in the Adelaide tournament.
I hope Fonseca will be healthy for the AO

Quite a big one for Daniil. He broke his drought in October for a title, but needs to keep that momentum going.
