Brazilian junior Luis "Guto" Miguel (who turned 17 four days ago) just won his first Challenger match in his home town Brasilia (Brazil's capital). I saw him playing at Rio Open (got a wild card, lost in the first round in three sets), he's got future. According to himslef this year he will play mostly juniors, but I see him winning a junor GS, very good shot at RG.

For the "Nick Kyrgios wasn't that talented" crowd. Remember this?

That looks like real talent to me. He was just an undisciplined head-case, but dude could hit the ball. This was him playing toe-to-toe with 2017 Federer, and probably the most frustrated Roger got all year.

Let's be real, it's mostly disgruntled Nadal fans saying he's not talented. He went on the piss the night before playing him at Wimbledon one year and got back to his hotel very late and still gave him fits even if he ultimately lost. With more discipline, he should and would have achieved much more.

Lack of discipline, lack of conditioning and time off tour with injuries hampered him greatly. I'd argue his lack of effort with physical training went some way towards causing many of these injuries but it's anyone's guess and maybe it was just bad luck. A shame really 'cos he was one of the few that could challenge the big 3 in their primes and even when still very good post prime.

I will watch that again later, but I saw that match live on TV, I didn't think for one second he was anything different from what I already thought back then. Great serve, big player, super fast for his size, right (and safe) strategy. Add the mind games and the occasional trick shot and use of power when situation allows it, you get peak Kyrgios. That is, a very intelligent player that maximizes his talents.

Talented? Yes, as any top 50 player is.

But I am a broken record on this. I know another Broken who thinks almost the same, by the way.

I raise you this. Frances Tiafoe, at age 19, went toe-to-toe with 2017 Federer at the first round of the US Open:

I don't think you can track this one via Fedal Wars. I do think Nick had real talent. See above re: Mrzz, who was a Fed fan. It's been discussed a lot. I don't see a clear line drawn.

I think some players have the "touch". I don't know what else to call it. It is a feel thing. It does not always translate to success. In fact I think it is very seldom that a player has the touch, the work ethic and the drive to be super successful. Federer is one. Touch is not about talent. You make it to top 100 , everyone has talent. Touch is something else. It is the ease a player manipulates the ball and the shots with. Kyrgios has it . McEnroe had it. Marcello Rios had it. Benoit Paire has it. Alcaraz has it. I think Bublik has some. And I believe it is something you cannot teach. You name your own player.

Stan Wawrinka and Matteo Berrettini recieved main draw will cards for Monte Carlo
Wawrinka is playing a clay challeger in the middle of Miami tournament, ahead of the clay season, maybe a reason why he wasnt granted a WC into Miami

Must be something in the water in Poland, first Iga Swaitek splits with her coach Wim Fisette, yesterday and today Hubi Hurkacz splits with his coach Nicolas Massu

The "Bernabeu" one of Europe's biggest football stadiums will be used for additional training courts for the Madrid Masters in 2026. ( great idea as Madrid has limited training courts)
