That media tour in NY just destroyed her grass court season. She needed to stay in Europe and get ready for the channel slam. Do media and interviews when she came home after Wimby or do the interviews remotely from Europe.

Turned over just in time to see Gauff ousted by Yastremska! So it continues... a little bit of success winning the FO means nothing as she's dismissed in the 1st Rd. of Wimbl. along w/ Pegula & Badosa! I'm sure there's a reason she skipped the grasscourt warmup events! :astonished-face::angry-face::yawningface:

Keli
I knew it would be a tricky match for Coco, to me Coco has the game for grass, sad to say she has never gone past the 4th round, her serve got her unstuck in this match today, it was hard for me to watch the 2nd set quite frankly

I always thought it insane to come back to the States after FO only to turn back around to compete at Wimbledon! It made even less sense when there was only a week or 2 between the 2 events! People don't recall decades ago when it was more impressive to win the "Channel Slam" when only a week or 2 occurred before "1st Ball" in the air at SW19!:fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Quite frankly it is time for Coco to get rid of that extreme grip on her fhand, Brad and her current coaches have done nothing to improve it over the years, it may work okay on clay but not on the faster surfaces, you need your grip especially on grass to be loose not extreme
In regards to Coco's serve it is Time to hire a Bio Mechanic Specialist like Saba did when her serve could not be fixed
Saba serve has improved out of sight and also her fhand, she still trains witrh her Bio Mechanic Specialist to this very day

BTW,
It is the first womens' major in the Open Era, where two of the top 3 seeds lost their opening matches!

Sabalenka (1) through in a tight 2 set match against Bouzkova 76(4) 64
Hopefully today we wont see the 'Carnage' in the WTA like yesterday!
Madison Keys (6) with a straight forward win 64 62 over Danilovic
2024 SF Vekic gone in straight sets to Italian player Busca 61 63
A bit surprised that the No 12th seed Shnaider who has won a title on grass, gone in straight sets to Parry 64 61
Haddad Maia season continues to sprial down again losing to Galfi in straight sets 76(7) 61

Jaz has not been right since she imploded at RG. She had that match against Svito won and she collapsed. That's a bad loss and it affects your confidence. She's been shaky ever since. It wasn't a good idea to change her coach after he helped her get to the mountain last year. I don't know where she goes from here. Maybe just be satisfied playing doubs until Sara retires later this year.

The good news is she won Rome and that probably keeps her in the top 10. She doesn't have much to defend the rest of this year so she could make some up if she can find her game and confidence again.

Jazz grass season has been bad full stop, she overplays doubles which has had a negative effect on her singles, she should not have lost to a 80th ranked player today

that's not a surprise or an upset. Pavs is the more seasoned grass courter and has reached the QF before.
