Sabalenka, (1) Gauff (4) , Andreeva,(7), Zheng (8),, Navarro (10), Rybakina (11), all through in their first round matches,
BTW Marta Kostyuk shook hands at the net against Kasatakina who is now representing Australia.
Good to see Andreescu with a 3 set win over Vekic (20) 61 36 62

Seeds that bowed out,
Kasatkina (14) Anisimova (15) Vekic (20)

Well if that is not an true indication that Swiatek is struggling on clay a straight sets victory from Collins who has only beaten her once before this match,
Iga loses 935 points and drops to 4th
Coco Gauff moves up to 2nd
Jess Pegula moves up to 3rd.

The title for Roland Garros is wide open and there are a number of players that can win the title in 2025
As I did mentioned before, I will be surprised if Wim Fissette stays on after RG this year, he has changed the way Iga plays on clay going for lines, with less margin, is not the way to play on clay, she is totally frustrated within herself and we have seen the way she has resorted to bad behavior and is a bad loser

Ostapenko recevied a walk over from Laura Siegemund
I must say there has been a lot of withdrawals so far in Rome, probably looking at the bigger picture at RG and not wanting to have niggling injuries

The most pleasing win so far has to be Andreescu who defeated Rybakina 62 64
Andreescu moves up 21 spots to No 100 with that win
Well done Bianca

BTW Jasmine Paolini has a shot of overtaking Swiatek for No 4 if she wins Rome!

SORRY I'm late. Finally a well deserved win and this time it was Navarro who bites the dust

A really tough win from Stearns over Osaka in 3 sets 64 36 76(4)
Shnaider (13) had no trouble dismissing Mertens (25) 62 63
A straights sets win from Paolini (6) over the dangerous Ostapenko (17) 75 62
Gauff (4) gave Raducanu a 'dust up' 61 62
Svilonlina (16) continues her solid performance defeating Collins (29) 64 62
In a 'rematch of the Dubai Final' Andreeva (7) defeats Tauson (22) 57 63 62
Zheng (8) 75 61, Andreescu served for the 1st set, broken, really never recovered sad to say

Contentious match between 2 brats: Clara and the teen queen. I'm glad it's over. I didn't want to watch anymore of either throwing hissy fits, tossing racquets and whining every few points when things weren't going their way.

To take it a step further, Clara did something I really don't like. The lights came on in the middle of a point where Mirra hit a winner on the line. Clara wasn't anywhere near it, nor did it impair her from making a response. She wasn't even moving toward the ball. She went up to the chair and asked for a let do be played. She should have just conceded the point as she wasn't in any position to win it anyway. Instead, the goofy chair umpire goes to the review and says that they need to play a let because the lights came on in the middle in the point regardless if it affected Clara. What? Anyhow, not a good sportsmanship award for her today.

She was extremely edgy after that allowed the crowd to rattle her to the extent she was engaging a fan sitting right behind the service line. There's nothing to be gained when turning the crowd against you. It burns unnecessary energy, effort and focus that she needs to defeat her opponent.

Lets see how the Teen Queen behaves when she plays Gauff in the QF, Gauff leads their H2H 3-0
During the match with the 'carry on' between the two I decided to just SB the match.

News just in,
Rybakina will play WTA500 Strasbourg tournament ahead of Roland Garros, she reached the final in 2020
Quite frankly Iga Swiatek should join her, though I read earlier there are no plans for Iga to play another tournament before Roland Garros
