So happy for Coco, but also sad for Irina. I love watching Sabalenka play and she seems like a genuinely warm and friendly person. Hope she grabs one of the two remaining ones this year
Her best shot will be the USO. She's a monster on HC

Why should she care if Iga would have beaten Coco? Doesn't make any sense. Why take food off that girl's table because you got beat? This is very poor form for #1. I liked Saba, but I'm becoming less endeared to her and now don't care so much that she's losing these slam finals.

Sabalenka's whole game plan is hit hard and when things go south then hit even harder.
That almost feels like a lot of high school girls tennis matches here in America. You'd be amazed at the number of girls here in their 4th year of high school tennis, some of whom are 18 years old, whose only strategy is to hit the ball as hard as they can.

watched Sabalenka's press conference. All the compassion I felt after her painful loss went out the window. All that crap about Coco being lucky and Iga would have beaten her was classless

That's what I was saying. Very sour and made it all about her. She is not a good loser.

I never really liked - or trusted - Saba but her remarks after she lost are not only “ungracious”, they were disgusting. Some players are bad losers, the best ones always are, but this was low level stuff. Coco has her number at this level and she exposed something about Sabalenko that we know is true about all bullies: keep hitting them and they cry!

Coco Gauff went on American media this morning and defended Sabalenka's negative comments about her and said she will give Aryna the benefit of the doubt and that Aryna was probably just emotional after her match.
As always, Coco is so gracious
Coco is very wise for her age, she’s a tough young woman but she’s got a lot of class..

Agreed. Maybe it has something to do with losing twice to Coco in these Bigtime Grand Slam finals after winning the first set.

No Baron, if my memory is correct she congratulated Keys on her win and said she was the better player and deserved her win

Yes, after she lost the final she immediately smashed her racquet. Not a good look or image for womens tennis, especially coming from the world number 1.

Vince,
I saw a picture of Saba at the AO, when she went back to her changing room and she did smash her racquet at the AO, left it on the floor? is that the incident you were referring to?

Sabalenka's antics after losing:

At the USO in 2023. She fussed at the crowd for not supporting her more and then cried because her family was watching her lose on TV

Then smashed her racquet in the fitness room after the match. I don't have an issue w/ it being done after the match and out of public view, but it's a pattern.

She was yelling at her box as she walked to the net and then destroyed her racquet on court after the handshake. Again always making it about her. Why should the focus be on her when it's not her turn to shine?

In the AO trophy ceremony she gave credit to Keys and then "jokingly" blamed her team for the loss

During the IW trophy ceremony she gave Mirra credit, but in the post match press conference she made it all about her. Like a me on me kind of match...

So she's gradually gotten worse after each loss until you reach that foolishness of the other day.

It is a pattern, 'its all about me syndrome' the way Saba has been carrying on when she loses, shame because when she puts her mind in a tennis match she is great to watch, maybe I should send her a copy of Janniks speech when he lost the RF final, that was 'pure class' something that Saba clearly lacks when she loses!
