I'm definitely going to cheer for Zhang Shuai because I admire a #133 ranked player who has made it to the QFs of this slam by taking way higher ranked scalpes - #2 Halep - #33 Cornet - #51 Lepchenco and #17 Keys - A fairy tale come true - Konta isn't a to difficult task for Zhang - I hope that she plays well - You go girl!!!

Johanna Konta has become Britain's first female grand slam quarter-finalist for 32 years... although she was an Aussie up until 2012!

I didn't realise Zhang was 27... makes the story even more remarkable.

I didn't realise it either. One of these ladies will be in the major semi final. Great achievement. I'll root for Zhang.

Kudos for both ladies making their first GS q/final.Zhang was considering retirement this year, due to her poor play in her singles ranking.I have been impressed with the way Konta has stayed strong and focused, especially in her last match.
Toss of a coin really.I will pick Zhang in 3 tight sets.

First time watching Konta, looks like she'll make her first major semi final. Did I hear correctly that she was born in Australia?

Thanks Margaret, I was reading something online at the same time so I wasn't sure. Yeah, that is strange to me that she would switch to GB especially when growing up in a country with strong tennis tradition like Australia.

Seems like a nice girl, judging from her post match interview.
