So impressive. It is related to the six in a row, but within that he's won all five Masters of the year so far. He's essentially got a no-hitter through 5 innings - worth mentioning, but not yet to take too seriously. But if he wins in Canada, it will be awfully tempting to start thinking about a sweep of all nine Slams.

That said, I highly doubt he'll do that or is thinking too much about it. He needs to rest and recover for the gauntlet of the Channel Slam. That's what he wants, I'm guessing, more than anything else.

Thanks El Dude, yes it is soo impressive, what Jannik has completed at just age 24
I did leave you a post saying that he wont be playing Halle before Wimbledon, after RG which I hope he completes his Career Slam, he will be taking a well earned rest, before defending his Wimbledon title, fingers crossed he can complete the Channel Slam which is the hardest to complete in our game. His main focus is to win RG this year and to defend his Wimbledon title :) oh and a few other things as well :)

He's also passed Mats Wilander with 16 big titles, 13th most in the Open Era. Up next is Andy Murray with 20.

His current 94.74 W% (36-2) on the year is on pace for 5th best all-time, just behind Roger in 2006 (94.85%). Assuming he wins R1 at RG, he'll pass Roger in 2006. If he wins Roland Garros, he'll pass Roger in 2005 (95.29) with a 95.56%.

It will be interesting to see how long he can keep this pace up and what form he'll be in when Carlos comes back - and how long it will take Carlos to get into top shape.

Another feat he's got a good shot at: 10+ titles, as well as Novak's record for 10 big titles in a season. 7 is where it gets really exclusive:

Most Big Titles in a season:
10 - Djokovic (2015)
9 - McEnroe (1984)
8 - Federer (2006), Djokovic (2011)
7 - Lendl (1986), Federer (2004), Nadal (2013)
6 - Laver (1969, 1970), Sampras (1994, 1997), Federer (2005, 2007), Nadal (2008, 2010), Djokovic (2010, 2016, 2023), Murray (2016), Sinner (2024)
5 - Nastase (1973), Connors (1976), Borg (1979-80), Lendl (1982, 1985, 1989), McEnroe (1983), Wilander (1988), Nadal (2005), Djokovic (2012-13), Federer (2017), Alcaraz (2025), Sinner (2026*)

# of Seasons with 5+ Big Titles

7 - Djokovic
5 - Federer
4 - Lendl
3 - Nadal
2 - Laver, Borg, McEnroe, Sampras, Sinner
1 - Nastase, Connors, Wilander, Murray, Alcaraz

Rosewall, Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Muster, Rios, and Zverev all maxed out at 4 big title seasons.

I will recheck Mrzz according to stats it was Rafa in 2010 and Jannik in 2026

Mrzz,
Djokovic won 2 clay court Masters in 2011, Madrid and Rome
Not to mention, Djokovic didn't even win the French Open that year, so whatever accomplishments he got on clay that year feels forgotten (which is why Sinner needs to win the FO). Rafa won the French Open in 2005 and 2010, when he swept the Clay Masters (I believe there were only 2 - Monte Carlo and Rome - in 2005, as Madrid was a hard court). 2008 or 2009 was when Madrid became clay, and it became 3 clay masters.

As an Italian it was soo pleasing to see Panatta in the stands watching Jannik win today
Panatta was the last Italian man to win the Rome trophy in 1976, he stood up in the stand after Jannik won with a huge smile on his face and clapped hard, he still has long hair, going grey of course.A special moment for Italians today!

Sinner Post Match

LeoAI Transcript
  • He says he focuses on being the best player of the day rather than chasing records, though he acknowledges knowing what he's playing for going into matches.
  • He admits the match was mentally tough, with a difficult start, but he stayed as calm as possible and is very happy with the result.
  • He completed the career Golden Masters (winning all ATP Masters 1000 titles) in Italy, which he describes as one of the most special places to play tennis as an Italian.
  • He made his debut on that court in 2019 and always felt a unique, emotional connection to Rome.
  • For recovery and next steps, he plans to rest for 2-3 days, do little to no tennis training, and spend time with family before heading to Paris (Roland Garros) from Thursday onward.
  • He was visibly moved by having the Italian president present to watch and hand him the trophy, calling it amazing and saying the support gave him very positive energy.

  • Love
