I can't believe you and Kieran even have the gall to compare what you see as this "soft bigotry" on the left with the very "hard" and blatant bigotry on the right.
You’re kidding, right? Your insurgents in Minnesota feel emboldened to call black people the n-word, and race traitors, and nobody even shrugs in your corner of the world. Biden tells blacks they ain’t black. Your universities teach kids a bunch of “whiteness” shite that transparently suggests that white people are evil.

Because they’re white.

Even once try to call them out on their nonsense, eh?

How about even once you try to call out the right in this country for their blatant racism? I am sick to death of you putting it on me, when you ponce around excusing the right. How about ICE killing people? How about Trump taking over sovereign cities with his goons? I've expressed far more nuance on this than you have.

Boomers scare so easily, it's truly uncanny.
Actually, I'm the Boomer that figured that out in 5 seconds. I don't think that video is meant for Boomers. It's right-wingers of many ages who are afraid of Mamdani, because he's a Muslim, and because he's a Democratic Socialist, and they're really easy to scare. I mean, look how afraid they are of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

I know! LOL. You clearly enjoy punching at her. But why? And that's a serious question. The right has been attacking her since she was first elected, even when all she was just a new representative from NYC. Why so much obsessing over her? I've been trying to figure it out for a long time.

As to 2028, I'm pretty sure the Dems will be nominating a white guy. By now, we see which way the wind blows. (And there's a partial answer for you! Happy now? :lulz1:)
You are right , she is such a low hanging fruit but I just cannot help it...She is so confident in her ignorance that she brings the average IQ down in any room she enters. It is so difficult not to make fun of her.
But being afraid of her? How did you come up with that gem? Let me tell you this and I am 100% certain of this: In the history of being afraid, no one has ever been less afraid of anything or anyone than they have been afraid of Occasional Cortex. And yes, that is one horrible sentence ! :lol6:

Then why so much attention? I think you guys are afraid of her. You seemed honestly to think she'd run for president. Why no memes about Chuck Schumer or Hakeem Jeffries? Is it that you guys can't identify a threat? Or she's just a pretty face you can't resist?

Because Schumer is a career politician who is evil and a total hypocrite. You can easily go online and find his videos of the times when he was against open borders and a staunch supporter of voter id. He actually scares me. So does Jeffries. Because these guys actually know how to play the game. They will do and say anything for power. AOC, not so much. She is learning but way too slowly. If she ran, she would be the first to drop out of the race, pretty much like Kamala did. So no, she does not scare anyone but it is just fun to have her around. I know it is not fair to make fun of her all the time but everytime she opens her mouth...

You'd be shocked how many of those are boomers. Or perhaps you wouldn't. Fear mongering really works on social media illiterate racists who are prone to right wing rabbit holes.

ICE killing people? You might remember when Charlie Kirk was killed we had unanimous agreement that his assassination wasn’t treasonous nor was it an attack on the state, but attacking law enforcement officers doing their duty for their country was. ICE have to put up with insurgents everywhere trying to overthrow the rule of law. These people seem to think they’re actually entitled to take over streets and enforce their will onto the law enforcement, block them in with vehicles, dox them, turn up with guns and ammunition to stop them doing their job.

They think - and you agreed - that hitting a law enforcement officer with a car is no biggie. The impressive thing with ICE is their patience. Remember that white hag who used the n-word to casually insult a black officer? This is what they have to deal with. A dim bulb governor in Minnesota who (typically for a Democrat politician) reckons that inciting violence and insurrection is a good thing.

Imagine, if you will, this guy as Veep to the Meme. That’s who you voted for.

If people had been shot and killed for storming the Capitol on January 6th, it would have been their own fault. It would have been justified. If these insurgents stayed away from ICE and let them get on with it, like they did when Obama did the same thing, they’d still be alive.

As for AOC, I agree - she’s very cute..

It's kind of uncanny how those with the dumbest opinions on tennis have the dumbest opinions on politics.
Sister @Moxie ‘s views on both tennis and politics are both highest quality. We’re just disagree on a very few specific things, that’s all… ;)

After some hemming and hawing, the sound cut out, so I'm not sure what the pay-off is. Can u just tell me?
she did a bit of a Kamala and didn't really stake out a position. Say what you like about HRC, that woman would have given a proper answer. It's ironic because the one time it was absolutely necessary for her to confront an issue, the emails, she totally fumbled. Much like Trump is doing with Epstein now, which makes me chuckle. But re: AOC, if she wants to aim for the big seat she'll have to do better. Much much better!

LOL

Do you mean the issue of "Christmas getting short shrift?" They try pushing that one around here, too. It's a bit much. The Christian right and the men have turned into the snowflakes around here. SOOOO put upon!
Sigh.. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to understand. This isn't about Christmas, so much as it's about trying to foist other cultures and traditions on British people. Immigrants come to the UK because there is typically a deficit either culturally or politically where they flee from. Instead of the left trying to help them adjust to the UK, they seem to spend more time trying to make the rest of us more like them. Make it make sense!

This is a close-to-home tale of ICE, relating to an Irishman who went to America in 2009, as a young man, and forgot to come home:

Seamus Culleton is in custody now and has become a bit of a social media battle ground over here, with some defending him and accusing Americans of being Nazis etc for trying to deport him, and others saying WTF, he’s had almost 17 years to get his affairs in order.

Culleton granted postponement to deportation

[His lawyers] added that they are committed to advocating for Mr Culleton's right to remain in the United States based on legal merits of his case.

"Our focus is on reuniting him with his spouse and ensuring that justice is served within the bounds of our laws."

This case then veers into what might be common complications regarding this process: his past life in Ireland. Recently it was reported he’d ‘abandoned’ 2 twin daughters when he left for America, without keeping up his maintenance payments for them:

We were told not to speak out about our father, say daughters of Irishman held by ICE

However, twins Heather and Melissa Morrissey were urged to keep secret the fact he left them in Ireland as toddlers.

The warning to the twins – who turn 19 this week – was sent by someone known to Mr Culleton after one of the girls commented on a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for his legal defence.

The appeal highlighted Mr Culleton’s detention in the ICE facility and said his wife wanted him home ‘to see his babies’, referring to the dogs the couple own.

Responding to the appeal, Heather said Mr Culleton should worry about the real children he has and not about the dogs. It was then that someone known to Mr Culleton, 38, contacted Heather directly. There is no suggestion this was his wife Tiffany.

Oh, and he faces old charges from before he left Ireland of “possessing drugs with intent for sale or supply, possession of drugs for personal consumption and obstructing a Garda (police officer) in the course of their duty.”

A shopping list of errors and crimes show how difficult this task is, without clownish vigilantes pretending they care enough about it that they should be allowed to police the police…

I probably wouldn't be shocked by how many are boomers, because I know some of them. But I'm just saying that most of us don't get our news or info from a source like that, compared to younger people, which is why I say it's not aimed at us, and you were singling out.

He used the same word re: Boombers. I don't think he understands what "uncanny" means. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Guys if you tell me I need to open a Canadian politics thread, I will but I thought it really is not necessary as Trump thinks we should be the 51st. state ...

This MAID thing in Canada..Medical Assistance In Dying....Some of us pointed out how it was really a slippery slope and it is super sad to see that we were right. It was supposed to be just for terminally ill people with a lot of safe guards in place. I will be honest, it still is for the most part but more and more groups are being included , like mental illnesses, disabilities...This example below is just sad.

MAID now is the 5th leading cause of death in Canada.

*Feel free to move to What On Earth Is Going On thread please...I missed that one.

They said the same with abortion: safe, legal and rare.

Which it wasn’t.

Once they legalise killing, it becomes fairly lucrative - and convenient..

Crazy. In one instance, a war veteran who is suffering from PTSD went for a consult because he was in bad shape. He was actually OFFERED MAID ! I mean, can you believe this? The person you go for help tells you to not worry about it, we'll just kill you...It was supposed to be that if the patient did not bring it up, it was never supposed to be offered.
I do not recognize this country anymore.
