Thanasi had a rare pectoral reattachment surgery in Feburary 2025, to reattach his pec muscle to his shoulder this surgery was to save his tennis career, after a previous pec injury.
Yikes! That gives me the willies just to read it! I hope he'll be well enough to play the next round. Or, more importantly, to keep playing tennis.

Sad to say Moxie if this 'radical surgery' dosent work as he was already to retire last year, he went to Melbourne for the surgery, he may have no other choice but to retire.

Casper Ruud is on 'standby' to return to Norway for the birth of his daughter, who is due any time, meaning he could potentially miss part or all of the AO 2026, as he's prepared to leave the Auckland Open immediately it he gets the call prioritizing family over the tournament, though he hopes to stay if the baby holds on.

That Pink Barbie Tee shirt he had on did him no favors at all :) of course I was cheering for Vukic who has a very good serve btw,

Lorenzo Musetti forced to retire from his exhibition match against Zverev after losing the 1st set TB, to me he didnt look that injured, though he had the trainer out, probably a niggle more than anything in his abductor, seeing the AO starts Sunday, he said he played 2 finals in Hong Kong 2 days ago and didnt want to risk it

In the Kooyong Classic which is back this year, it underwent major renovations in 2025
Pleased to see that Berrettini d Tien 62 62
Tien's serve is a 'Big Liability", he has very few weapons, anyone with decent weapons ( like Matteo) can over power him.
BTW Zverev has decided to play, he wasnt very happy with his performance in the United Cup ( when he lost to Hubi in straight sets )

I wonder how long before Kei Nishikori retires, his body has always been made of 'glass'
36 yo Kei pulled out of the mens singles qualifying first rd at the AO, signaled discomfort in his shoulder during his warm up, ahead of his match against Coppejans of Belgium.
A week ago, the same issue saw Kei retire in the 1st rd of Canberra International, an ATP Challenger 125 event.

That scoreline is telling. I agree that Tien is a defensive player and needs to work on his serve. But that also tells me that Berrettini's game is working into the new year, which is good news.

I'm with you. Sadly, if the body can't hold up, how long can you go on? Can't even finishing the qualifying for the AO? At least Wawrinka is making some show of his last year. Kei is ranked #237. Is he going to keep playing qualifiers and challengers to hope for a last run?

Fingers crossed that Berrettini is 'healthy in 2026!

Presently he is not doing that well in challengers sad to say, in Canberra his shoulder was giving him problems and he had to retire in the 1st round, it must be so frustrating for Kei, every time he makes a comeback from his latest injury another body part breaks down, quite frankly he really has to ask himself 'is it worth it'?

I like Kei, and his game, and I'm sad for how it's going. I wonder what he thinks "success" would look like, at this point? He's got a lot of work to do just to make the main draw of a serious tournament. I suppose he'll see how this year goes. But if things don't improve pretty quickly, you have to think he'll retire in 2027. Surely he has the cred in Japan to make a good post-tennis career of some kind.

I truly hope this is precautionary! and not something more serious! this young man has had soo many injuries, last year went through radical surgery, rehab, rebuilding muscle and training to withdraw after one match again.
Thanasi Kokkinakis has withdrawn from his scheduled match tonight vs Valentin Vacherot at the Adelaide Tennis tournament

Hmm remember he got caught out having an affair a few years back? he lost a lot of credibility in Japan from the fans and his sponsors, lets see how long he lasts on the tour. and what he intends to do after his career.

Watching the mens and womens matches in Adelaide, switching back and forward,
Good result from Munar who defeated The Dangerous One (3) in 3 sets 36 75 64 and makes the QFs

This interview with Holger Rune is really worth checking out:

He's a sweet kid, and it is really fun listening to him talk about the game and the scouting reports on other players that Roddick asked for.

Rather as predicted. That is too bad.
