Quite a big one for Daniil. He broke his drought in October for a title, but needs to keep that momentum going.
Though, as Margaret pointed out, Musetti has a real drought going. I'll be especially hoping for him to break that one.

Absurd match between Bublik and Musetti. Let's see if they can keep up this level in the AO.

It strikes me that no one talks about how talented Bublik is. He has all the shots, and use them creatively within a match to actually win points, not to entertain the crowd (something that he does too, I know), and not to get into his opponent's head. And now he is in the top 10. He is a bit too much of a performer to my taste, but I cannot fail to recognize what he is doing in court.

Nice little highlight reel already up on Tennis TV:

Not sure who designed the trophy... looks more like an office dustbin.

I have to post this from my tennis friend in London, who texted me after Lorenzo Musetti lost his final to Bublik,
" We'll wake up one day soon and Musetti will somehow be ranked No 1 in the world without a title since 2022 and nobody - including himself will have any clue how he got there" :)

@El Dude: who had Raonic on their predictions for retiring?

He wasn't an interesting player, but he had some big moments. I guess injuries got him, too?

I'm not surprised, considering how little he's played over the last few years. Nothing in 2025, 11 matches in 2024, 9 in 2023, none in 2022, 12 in 2021. He hasn't played 50 matches in a season since 2019.

Anyhow, good player - one of the best of Lost Gen - along with Nishikori and Dimitrov, and Thiem if you count him. He's another casualty of the Big Four - never won a Masters, but probably would have in a different era.

I watched the end of Kokkinakis d. Korda in 3rd set TB. Apparently, Kokkinakis was suffering with his arm during the match, but won in his home town, for his first win in 12 months, after yet another injury. Speaking of, as we were, about careers cut short by injuries.

still can't stand the guy. Can't remember the specific incident in Canada, but he cheated. Clear cut. Never looked at him the same after

group Raonic with Nishikori if you like, but he's done more than Dimitrov with less talent. And please.. please... it's an insult to Thiem to put him in this category. He's beyond any of those guys... not close

It was a net touch, v del Potro, I think, that the umpire didn't see and he didn't call on himself. He slid into the net with his foot. But the camera saw it and so did everyone watching TV. I think a lot of people never forgot that one.

Thanasi had a rare pectoral reattachment surgery in Feburary 2025, to reattach his pec muscle to his shoulder this surgery was to save his tennis career, after a previous pec injury.

I'm grouping him in terms of age - the years of birth, and thus generation. It isn't an insult to point out that Thiem was born in 1993, at the tail-end of Lost Gen.
