Sad to read this !

As far as i'm concerned, he's the real King of Tennis, if it wasn't for him, i would not have discovered tennis at all 48 years ago.

Get well Bjorn.

Borg holds a place in the tennis pantheon that’s unique. He was the first tennis superstar. He was the first to transcend the sport and suffer something akin to Beatlemania when struggling to get from the changing room to the court for his match.

He’s always been the ultimate example in any sport of grace under pressure. He was prone to indecent composure. When I’d rush home during the 1978 Wimbledon to watch Bjorn, I knew the match was already an hour old but from his face, was he winning or losing? Impossible to tell! His mask was compelling, a saint in a trance. @shawnbm calls him The Angelic Assassin, and he fits the bill. Tough as teak, cold as a corpse, Borg wore players down both physically and mentally. He was exciting to watch simply because we’d never seen such an exaggerated game before, lassoed topspin that landed six feet in front of the baseline and galloped on up into the air and over the royal box.

In victory, he collapsed to his knees, in defeat he was gracious. Still the ultimate King of Tennis to so many of us. He’s still a class act wherever he’s seen.

I hope he gets well soon!

The King's battle with Prostate Cancer sounds really grim on this latest article :-(

'Day by day, year by year' - Borg on cancer diagnosis

Tennis legend Bjorn Borg says he takes life "day by day, year by year" after being diagnosed with "extremely aggressive" prostate cancer.
The 69-year-old announced the news in the final chapter of his autobiography, stating the disease was "at its most advanced stage" but he would "fight every day like it's a Wimbledon final".
Former world number one Borg won 11 Grand Slam titles, including five successive Wimbledons, before unexpectedly retiring aged 25.
The Swede is in remission,, external having had an operation in 2024, but described the diagnosis as "difficult psychologically".
"I spoke to the doctor and he said this is really, really bad," Borg told BBC Breakfast.
"He said you have these sleeping cancer cells [and] it's going to be a fight in the future.
"Every six months I go and test myself. I did my last test two weeks ago. It's a thing I have to live with."

That’s sad to hear. I don’t want to think too deeply about this one. Bjorn Borg was like the northern star in my youth..

Heartbeats will be released in the USA by Diversions books on September 23,
In Australia, Sydney, where I live I can buy it at Dymocks book shops in the CBD
It contains revelations about his love life, various adventures and regrets and his detailed recollections of particular matches.
Borg is and still is my tennis idol and I was devastated when he retired from tennis at the age of 25.
I look forward to reading his book.
