I saw a bit of the Wawrinka and Nishikori matches. They both had hard fights. I thought Kei looked especially good on the clay. Hopefully that's the final.Geneva QF
Wawrinka (1) v Querrey (6)
Kuznetsov v Stebe
Johnson (5) v M. Zverev
Nishikori (2) v Anderson
Sad to see Tipsarevic retire against Stebe. He has just been getting back into normal tournaments following his return from surgery for a foot tumor. I hope it is nothing serious. Does anyone know more?
I don't agree with that at all. Of course, Stan's career path of the last few years is one of the great contemporary mysteries in tennis, but if he wins at home, he could go into RG with a load of confidence, compared to his fairly paltry year thus far. I would say it could be the springboard he needs. He's not a wimpy guy, and he hasn't played huge amounts of tennis so far this year. I think he'd be fine for the Major.Stan screwing his chances at RG by winning back to back matches here. If he does not stop right away, I am willing to write him off from being a contender at RG.
Sure, but I'm saying I don't think it hurts him, especially as he hasn't done deep at any clay event.Stan gets appearance fee at Geneva and that is why he plays, despite being a pretender.

That's a bit of a fine point, and I didn't realize that you were making that one. Winning Geneva isn't winning MC, Rome or Madrid. I don't think it puts him that much on the radar beyond what he already is, to say so. And it gives him that bit of confidence. Let's not pretend he's totally off the radar, or that winning Geneva makes him a world-beater. I'm just arguing it's a bit of a leg-up.You are missing my point. He tends to do well when he is under the radar. If he wins or even reaches the final of Geneva, he cannot be considered to be under radar.
Stan's unpredictable, you may never knows with himStan screwing his chances at RG by winning back to back matches here. If he does not stop right away, I am willing to write him off from being a contender at RG.
