this year was the grandest grand slam ever for the Australian Open, with a record-setting one million tennis fans showing up at Melbourne Park. But the open won't bask in the afterglow of this year's tournament for long, with multiple challenges ahead.

So there may be another lucrative tennis in Saudi Arabia next january that could threaten the AO grand slam.
Well one could argue why not move the AO to a mid February start. It falls to the end of summer then, and as a result, milder weather. This would be appreciated by players, mainly european who are fair skinned, the public as a whole and would reduce the unbearable sight of watching some draining tennis being played where the weather is hot.

A mid-February AO can work. That was proven in 2021: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Australian_Open

"The 2021 Australian Open was a Grand Slam tennis tournament that took place at Melbourne Park, on 8–21 February 2021."
