Out of interest, what are your ten greatest of all time albums ?

You can include greatest hits compilation and live ,concert records but it would be nicer to keep these to a minimum.

In no particular order, these are mine:

The Beatles - "Abbey Road"
Elvis Presley - "Million Dollar Quartet"
Bob DYLAN - "Blonde on Blonde"
Bruce Springsteen - "Darkness On The Edge Of Town "
The Eagles - "Hotel California"
Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton - "Trio"
Creedence Clearwater Revival - "Chronicle"
Neil Diamond - "Hot August Night"
Rod STEWART - "Footloose and Fancy Free"
The Doors - "L.A. Woman"

Rainbow - Rising
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
UFO - Phenomenon
Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Deja Vu
Joan Baez - Gulf Winds
Iron Maiden - Power Slave
Bad Company - Running with the Pack
Rory Gallagher - Deuce
Genesis - A trick of the tail

I restricted one album for each band/composer, that was the hard part. The list became sort of arbitrary because of that.

In no particular order:

1. Led Zeppelin IV [Zoso]
2. The Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach
3. Elton John - Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy
4. Yes - Yesshows
5. Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
6. The Beatles - Blue Album (I love everything they did from Revolver through Let it Be. My favorite song of all-time is "Hey Jude" (originally released as a single), so my one greatest hits pick is this one.)
7. Stravinsky - Firebird Suite - Leonard Bernstein (conductor) / New York Philharmonic (1957) (Bernstein recorded this a few times, but this is the definitive version by anyone.)
8. Beethoven - Ninth Symphony - John Eliot Gardiner (conductor) / Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique (Easily the greatest recording of this notoriously difficult symphony. Gardiner personally picked out the soloists and chorus, so you finally get to hear it when everyone doesn't sound like they're straining and shouting.)
9. Beethoven - Piano Sonatas - Artur Schnabel (pianist)
10. Beethoven - Late String Quartets - Melos Quartet

In no particular order as well.... most are in my selection because of how well I think they were put together, but some get there because they evoke strong memories for me

John Coltrane: Ole Coltrane
Prince: Purple Rain
Michael Jackson: Thriller
Tracey Chapman: Tracey Chapman
Phil Collins: Face Value
Metallica: Metallica
Maxwell: Embrya
Georg Solti: Verdi’s Requiem
Dr Dre: The Chronic
Alicia Keys: Diary of Alicia Keys
