This is your one-stop place to discuss upsets before, during and after they have happened.
Alerting others of brewing upsets would be appreciated very much as it would help more people to see the upsets happening live.

I expect a lot of upsets this year in women's side (considering so many players withdrew/retired from warm-ups). In fact, we may start the day with an upset. Expect Kum-Kum to show the door to Petra right away. Kum-Kum is a qualifier and so is ready to go having won three matches. She is not new to delivering upsets and she has done so before.

I agree. Petra will likely go home after round one. Sadly, I expect Serena to not last long because of her knee. I so wanted to see number 22 here. The Serena Pova same quarter curse at work!

This could be a Bartoli winning Wimby kind of tournament unless Vika Aga or Pova take advantage of a weakened field.

While I remembered that Kum-Kum has delivered upsets before, I did not quite remember that it was actually Petra who was upset by Kum-Kum (same round, 2014 AO). So, the surprise element is not there this time and Petra was prepared for the danger and so it did not happen.

Errani down 4-1 in the decider

Indeed she's the first seed out and Sloane is in big trouble against Wang - didn't see that coming. And it's perfect - lost 36 36

She has not done much since her SF run in AO'13. But, she has accumulated 3.5 million bucks in prize money alone. That I am sure is more than what most posters will make in their entire life.

I was not counting either. I went to her profile to see which year was that she reached SF at AO.
There I noticed her career earnings and am actually surprised by that figure.

Kristina is on the rise. She is seeded (perhaps for the first time) and Cibby is not seeded and so to a large extent this was expected.

Great win for Lauren Davis! I love Pavy, but Lauren kept her composer after losing the first set 1-6 and took the match from Anastasia.

As Caroline said after her loss

#Wozniacki not parsing words in press: "It's a pretty shitty start to the season. I let her back into the match. It's my own fault"

Sure right Caroline with all those chances to win the match. Her stats for AO is now perfect:

2011: Semifinal 2012 Quarterfinal 2013 4th round 2014 3rd round 2015 2nd round 2016 1st round

Ir can only be better from here. Well she met a player today who never gave up and a Caroline who lost her mental strenght in 3rd set. Come again Caroline - use your time well before the next tournament in St. Petersbourg. What about joining the mix tournament if it's possible. :nono
