You'd be surprised how many avid collectors there are that relentlessly look and purchase these in mint condition. This is a thread i started on another forum but here it will be more abridged with some foreign vid's :)

I need more of those to play on my gramophone when I find them to buy.

This sounds like it's going to be an interesting thread, Vince. Thank you very much for starting it. I look forward to reading & listening.

Here's what the 78 RPM of The King Elvis Presley looked and sounded like when it was issued in Great Britain!

"Mystery Train" is a song written and recorded by American blues musician Junior Parker in 1953. Originally performed in the style of a Memphis blues or rhythm and blues tune, it was inspired by earlier songs and later became a popular rockabilly song, as first covered by Elvis Presley, then numerous others.

Elvis Presley's version of "Mystery Train" was first released on August 20, 1955, as the B-side of "I Forgot to Remember to Forget".
In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at number 77 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Footnote: Big news for the british Elvis fans as it was recently announced that there will be an AI and hologram image combination that will play some shows beginning in november. Alas, you don't hear any such thing being developed on The Beatles, i wonder why that is.

Hello Vince! I know. I find them in antique shops & charity shops sometimes. I inherited some. I don't have a mobile phone I'm afraid. (I said I had a gramophone. Strictly speaking, that's not true. I've got a 1920's/30's portable Columbia Grafonola with detachable winding handle but where I come from that's classed as the same thing. I want a polished wood one with a brass horn but haven't been able to get hold of one.)

This here is Andrew (Parlogram Auctions) he's a character and a diehard Beatles collector that regularly puts up historical and factual, monologues on his dedicated channel. This one he examines the 78 rpm's as they were produced and issued in India..

I mention in my OP how popular the old 78 RPM's still are , these products are highly sought-after by avid collectors in the various countries, well have a look at this recently auction list on valueyourmusic site.

ELVIS PRESLEY - Blue Suede shoes 78 RPM - RCA ITALIANA A25V 0509 - 1956

Sold for 219.65 USD on 12 Jan 2024

US $219 was paid for original 78 RPM Italian pressing on "Blue Suede Shoes". Hard to believe when we're going through and living in a harsh inflationary economic time. Shows that there some folks out there with money to burn.

the very first ever record of ...

Baby Face - the Jan Garber Orchestra (Benny Davis, vocal) 1926 !

which would become a 1933 film and the song itself, a standard covered by hundreds of singers through the ages (see secondhandsongs link)...https://secondhandsongs.com/search?search_text=Baby+Face

Love Letters straight from your heart.... Another timeless standard that would become a 1945 war movie classic...

Loads of singers would go on to wax a rendition, notably by Ketty LESTER...

Good look here on the history of the 78RPM. Made in 1946 this footage takes you behind the scenes at RCA Victor and covers the manufacturing process that went into the early 78's.

OMG !!!

The Truth about Me, an Elvis Monologue made in 1956, was issued and at one-time existed in 78 RPM !!! An awesome find! Wonder what their value is on the Presley diehard collectors market! Probably in the thousands.
