Monica Seles had the highest peak of any player in women's tennis history. It's a shame the stabbing happened and cut her prime short, but I feel that her level of play was just unsustainable. Even without the stabbing, Monica was going to fall off at some point before the Martina Hingis domination. I'm actually quite surprised Monica won the later match in 1998 and made it to the final because she was well past it by that point.
