Hey, I suppose i'm one of a very few, but i love Mary and her role and enthusiasm as a commentator for decades.

Good post by Anonymous. That's how it seemed to me. In fact why have interviewers at all for the USO trophy presentations?

Mary absolutely did not interrupt either player.
Sabalenka very clearly had forgotten that she wanted to say more. Mary Carillo is a commentator (one of the best I’ve ever seen) and an interviewer.
The mistake was by the US Open and ESPN/ABC having an interviewer introduce the players to the trophy ceremony. Some bigwig should have introduced them and let them make their speeches, while Mary should have interviewed them after the trophy presentation.

I have never been a fan of Carillo full stop, she got soo much back lash on social media for interviewing both Amanda and Aryna, interrupting them and not allowing them to finish their speeches, she wants to be the Center of Attention full stop, that is not her job, and telling Amanda who was in tears that she made a match of it in the end? was totally 'out of line'
In comparison at the mens trophy ceremony Jim Courier did a good job of presentations and actually let both players, Carlos and Jannik speak
I hope after that horrendous performance from Mary they give the job to someone else in 2026. I usually Mute Mary!

yep, that thing she said to AA was pretty bad. Like are you saying the girl didn't show up for the first set and a half? I mean she had to be pretty sensitive after her Wimby performance. She didn't need Mary making wise cracks after she lost yet another final. Just insensitive. She might think she was being funny, but none of that was funny to me and I wasn't even the subject of it. I can't imagine how AA felt.
