A sign of the beginning of the end... maybe?!?!?!

Is this your wishful thinking toshiroh - like when you predicted that Masha never could be a champion on clay?

Do you have anything which can support your speculation?

From a strictly tennis point of view this puts a lot of pressure on Maria to perform well in Australia and Paris.

After Paris she has a long break before Indian Wells. Last year she made the final or better at every event between Indian Wells and the French Open except for Rome.

This is definitely a boon for Sharapova and her Sugarpova candy, a lot of face time. But, for NBC, seeing as the Olympics are a huge ratings grabber, sometimes higher than the Summer Games, I wonder how much of a benefit having Maria does for the ratings, if any, especially considering it's an American audience, and the last time many viewers saw Sharapova was during the Summer Games representing Russia.

Must say, interesting decision on NBC executives end.

Maybe She is preparing for life after Tennis

Wonder what the Docs say about her shoulder.

Usually when current players start commentating

it means something.

I honestly don't care either way, to be honest. She could leave tennis right now and call it a career and I wouldn't think twice about it. And I doubt I said she would never win on clay. Probably said unlikely... but never... show me the proof of that.

I haven't heard anything about her shoulder and obviously I was very late in learning she was going to be a commentator!

Maria is after my job! She is a commentator/correspondent.
:cry

As if that was not enough, she gets to carry the torch too.

Sharapova makes a marquee appearance in the Winter Olympics for our sport, which is a summer one, in what is actually her home town, Sochi, and people find it another excuse for trash talk. Some folks need to give factionalism a rest, and appreciate other things. For example, that her pride of place in the torch carrying was a coup for tennis; and that Maria makes a perfect cross-cultural ambassador between US and Russia, in this moment.

Is that photo really Maria's? She looks very different.

It's a glamorous photo, but did you miss the Opening Ceremonies?

Yes, I missed.

Too bad. It was a proud moment for women's tennis on the international sports stage.
