Republicans in America use it when they talk about democrats meaning "not conservative", however what is liberal or for that matter, what is democratic in destroying directly or indirectly half of the world like former Yugoslavia, all those countries in North Africa, those in Near and Middle East what Clintons and their friends did?

but they are really just two sides of the same coin -- taking turns blaming the other for their own failures...but in ONE thing they SUCCEED AND ENGAGE IN --
american IMPERIALISM. THEIR METHODS might differ or the layers of pretense at ''american democracy and leadership in the world"? -- but take note:
NEITHER EVER gets off of the high horse of american exceptionalism - ''WORLD LEADER AND TEACHER"
and the imperial "'american interests" which ARE -- WELL -- everyone can see -- 1,000 military bases worldwide -- in over 180 countries -to ''remind" countries -- how to behave........
''american national interests" -- although i forget exactly which american leaders said it -- pentagon, obama or someone -- one of them echoed by the others in so many ways -- (as in 'actionable' WAYS) --

and forigve me but i DO read quite a lot and sometimes it is difficult to find the article long ago read already -- but actual official documents - -or ''STRATFOR" TYPE 'advice on how to proceed with american policy" -- and such think-tanks as well as the authorities have actually recently BEGUN to shift the wordings:
RUSSIA in more and more word usage has bgun to be referred to without MENTIONING ''RUSSIAN" citizens -- or referring to them as ''a culture" -- merely ''THE INHABITANTS OF THE LARGE TERRITORY known as RUSSIA".
NOTE that clearly THE IMPLICATION IS the gradual REMOVAL of the LEGITIMACY of an actual culture and its people who comprise a nation, a country -- which is only called a ''LARGE TERRITORY" --
THE mental, intellectual preparation to 'remove" the right of the 'inhabitants" from ''tha tlarge territory" SUBJECT to american empire.
it is a subtle but CLEAR identifying of actual people, a CULTURE with its characteristics, languages, histories, nationalities, ethnicities -- as MERE INHABITANTS...AS IF there is NO such thing as a people with the above mentioned characteristics who have a right to call themselves russians AND CITIZENS of that ''large territory".IT REMINDS one of Margaret Thatcher quipping:

i mean who actually calls -- or refers to the people of a country known as THAT people's country as 'INHABITANTS" as if to understand that they are WITHOUT national features that comprise what a culture, a society, a way of thinking, a connection with THAT LAND -- called ''territory" -- ?
do people call it "the INHABITANTS OF BRITAIN?" -- THE 'INHABITANTS OF THE TERRITORY BETWEEN POLAND AND LUXEMBOURG between the coasts of the baltic sea and central europe?
the ''INHABITANTS IN THAT LARGE TERRITORY otherwise known as BRAZIL"?
UNLESS one wishes to ERASE IDENTITY and thus legitimacy from those people who are CITIZNES of a COUNTRY ?
AND -- IF SO - WHAT IS THE PURPOSE of that kind of reference? unless it is to DELEGITIMIZE THE HABITATION and the authority of THOSE people in their own country to BE their country and rulers of their country..
