This has been the break out year for Garbiñe Muguruza, at least when talking singles competition.

First making a splash in 2014 by beating Serena Williams in French Open and teaming up with Carla Suarez-Navarro to make top 10 doubles team.

Mugu made her first major final in Wimbledon and won her first Premier Mandatory(1000 points) in Beijing, she is officially sitting at #3 ranking spot as of today and attending the WTA Finals in Singapore.

I think it's safe to say this is her best year yet, Muguruza just tuned 22 years old.

For now, WTA doesn't know WHAT to do with her, so they have multiple articles trying to catch up!

But one thing is for sure...

A Star Is Born.

Agreed - she's evolving all the time. I have a feeling the next couple of years will be big for her.

Garbine is one of my favorite young players.Since she has teamed up with Sam Sumyk on a part time basis, during the Asian swing, the most pleasing factor to me was her mentality, focus and the way she played the big points, which at times were lacking.I like the way she takes the ball on early, looking to come to the net, though her volley's need work, she has time on her side to work on her volley's.Hopefully,Garbine will make Sumyk her full time coach,as I feel he can develop her tennis skills further.Garbine is an exciting prospect and I look forward watching her for many years to come.

I'll wait to see how she is going to respond next year.  This year was a break out year for her and she achieved a lot of firsts, but it is not going to be easy when she becomes one of the favourites next year or the pressure of defending points happens to her for the first time.   Everybody was saying that Genie was the next big star last year and then we know what happened this year.

Agreed about Genie, and the next-best-thing.  Muguruza did defeat Serena last year (2014) at the FO in a big upset, but she has a lot yet to prove.  I do like her game, though.

A huge fan of this young lady and believe that she and Simona will be battling for number one along with Serena.
