If Sergio is in the crowd again, he can ignore Trump

Knowing Trump, he'd probably try to deport Carlos if he were ignore him! That's how sick this man is! I get very upset w/ @-holes who seem to make a joke out of the fact this psychopath is systematically undermining our gov't; our very Democracy! I can't even watch the news as this man does one outrageous thing after another as many cheer him on for doing what they'd do if they had the chance! Seems like we have half a country of true traitors! Jan. 6th was just a rally that got out of control! No harm, no foul! End RANT! :astonished-face::angry-face::face-vomiting::sneezing-face:

Last time he went to the Open, in 2015, he got booed. Broadcasters are being asked not to show it, if he does again, or if there are any other disruptions.

He'll be in the Rolex box. I doubt he'll come out of it. The added security will likely be a drag for spectators. They should go early.

The 2 pm ET start time on Sunday is stupid. It interferes with the 1 pm ET block of opening week NFL games. There's a reason why last year's US Open men's final was the lowest rated ever, despite having an American player in it. Either bring back the traditional 4 pm ET starting time, or make the final on Monday (ESPN has the rights to MNF, so a Monday final would be a perfect lead-in). The Monday final worked well in 2008-15.

Anyways, I expect Alcaraz to win the final. He hasn't dropped a set all tournament. Jannik is going to face a pressure he has never faced before. If you don't believe me, ask Djokovic. He never repeated as US Open Champion.

But back to the match: Alcaraz hasn't dropped a set all tournament. Sinner has looked mostly great, with a flat day v. Shapo. I think Carlos is ready to avenge the Wimbledon loss. I think it gets overstated that Carlos's worst surface is HC. He won his first Major here.

I don't know why the women's final was a 4pm, and the men's is at 2pm, (except maybe for the men's doubles before,) but I don't see how 4pm is better than 2pm, as NFL games are all day long. I still don't think it matters that there is football tomorrow. But a Monday final is a terrible idea! People do have to work.

I'm just commenting on the practicalities of having him there, and the pressure on the broadcasters to basically censor. Yes, there is a thread for US politics. But the stray remark will be made. You are the one who told us he'd be attending. :)

Roger Federer remains the last player to defend his USO title in 2008, so you can forget about Djokovic!

no worries about political remarks. Any posted in the match thread will be deleted going forward. Giving everyone fair warning. Take that stuff to the political thread.

I think Djoke might have done it one year. But honestly, I don't see either one doing this tomorrow. Usually their matches go 4 or 5 sets.

We've heard you mention this before many times. I don't agree with the Monday final. It was a horrible idea when they did it and I hope it never returns. No one is watching a final on a Mon. As Mox said, folks in NY have to work. The 4pm start used to put it up against the NFL late games. There are only 3-4 late games as the rest are played early. 4pm would be better than 2pm when they are going against the brunt of the early games and the RedZone. 7pm would be even better as they would only have to go up against 1 game that airs at 8pm on NBC.
