I have had the pleasure of visiting this historic French city many years ago. Elena Vesnina ousted by Casey Dellacqua 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, as the Russian continues to stumble a bit. Surprised Sharon Fichman lost to Claire Feurenstein 6-2, 6-4. Fichman could only convert 2 of 12 break points in the match. Also number 3 seed Kirsten Flipkens beaten in three sets too.

Can Camila take out the defending champion? Can Julia take out Sloane?

Julia took out Sloane, easily in 2

I know Julia's best surface is clay...still Sloane should have beaten her.
Sloane will have a projected seeding of 15 at Roland Garos,I haven't got high hopes for her at all, even though she does tend to play better at GS.

And Camila and Alize are still fighting it out!

Camila promptly took out the defending Champion making this event WIDE OPEN!
Anyone can win it now. Petko is enjoying being the top seed for now.

First round is now completed.

What 3 Americans? I only count 2. By the way, that's a good effort for both Keys and McHale. Sloane should be embarassed. She is the higher ranked among the young crop of US players and she's constantly going out in the early rounds to people she should be owning.

^^That's all I have also is 2. Keys took out Riske who is ranked higher. As for Sloane she needs to grow up and until she does I'm delighted every time she gets defeated :snigger

This should be an all-American final.McHale should be able to beat Soler-Espinosa and face the winner of Keys-Puig in the final.
