:p:p:p:p:p:dance2::dance2::dance2::dance2::dance2:

I am offended by the use of "humankind". Given that it was the word that was used throughout history, I feel that people are specifically trying to erase man's (XY people) contribution to it.

Oh, by the way, by the same token "Homo Sapiens" is offensive too. It should then be Humano Sapiens. Or maybe the "homo" is for "homosexual", in which case it is completely ahead of its time.

These people are so arrogant. Someone really should stop and look in the eye of the person who wrote this shit and say "fuck you".

This is the audio of the incident. It was clearly just banter...

Nivea had to withdraw a campaign about a deodorant which read "White is purity" because people saw it as white supremacist.

I withdraw the adjective "people" that I used on the line above.

@mrzz: There is overly PC, and then there is also being tone-deaf to your times. I work in as a filmmaker, often in advertising. Advertisers (brands and agencies) are cautious people. Given that there is some real noise from the white-supremacist community worldwide, I'm surprised they couldn't see how that might land for most people, especially as their product is sold primarily to women, who are generally more liberal. From what I know of advertising, that was a huge misreading of the zeitgeist. Say what you want to say about being PC, etc. but from an advertising standpoint, it was absolutely idiotic.

Why does "humankind" offend you? It's a reasonable word, and not at all awkward. Do you really think people are trying to erase men's contribution to human history? That's not just an overstatement, it's a bit paranoid. Are men really so insecure that they worry that a little more fairness in the direction of women shrivels their balls, neuters them, and reduces them immediately to the boneyard of history? I know you guys are having a laugh at some serious PC bullshit, and I'll agree there is some. But I will call likewise bullshit on acting as if you poor (white) males are just about to be toppled from your leg-up in terms of basically everything in society. :finger:

Also, btw, "homo" is Greek. It means "same." Think about that, my brother. :good:

To be fair, this is not Chelsea Clinton's twitter feed, and is spurious. Try to be more careful next time, eh?
Oh dear, the cute little Moxie is still in election mode... Who said it was Chelsea Clinton's twitter feed? I just posted a picture lol....

The focus here was on the pc term and not on that little monkey... no one cares if the tweet is fake or not

Are you really interested in the difference in terms between "genital mutilation" and "genital cutting?" I'd be surprised. And it does matter who you attribute it to. I didn't assign any motivation to you or your post, I was only making mention of attribution, which was false, and that does matter. You have said something about your own presumptions, though, in your response. But if I don't read into your responses, then how about you don't read into mine? Fair?

well, the second term is trying to downplay brutal truth of the first one, namely that the human body's part with which someone is naturally born is cut down....... and that's fricking idiotic...

BTW you know i guess that the communists in china exposed and made fun of the foot shrinkers for the same reason, because it's unnatural and stupid......

As a socialist or communist or whatever you are i don't know how you can't see what i did here was actually a socialist act....

BTW i don't know either why the heck you're mourning the elections so much, nothing's changed, Obama had Soros and crew behind him, Trump has the Kushners and all those people i posted the pic of.... Same crew, same agenda..... Before people were blaming the blackies and the communists, and, in Cali's words those effeminate lefties, now they're blaming the white man when that white man is just another puppet of the Kushners and the stadtmaiers, rosenbergs, cohns lol..... Haha Jared Kushner even did business with Soros too and in theory Trump was pissed when he learnt about it????? :lulz1:

And why are you asking everybody "fair?" everywhere, the tennis threads and here? I'm not making deals here, i don't think "your" agenda is fair at all but i don't care about it, the world is not a fair place lol, and actually you're making a disservice to your cause, you're making it look funny :p i mean you look like a very unoriginal mainstream media regurgitator:lulz1:

Listen to what the prof says about women's creativity :lol3:

As far as the PC police, I don't know when "fair" became a dirty word. ;-):

Surely it was idiotic from an advertising point of view. We live in idiotic times, so we have to abide to idiotic rules, and they idiotically forgot to do that.

You are missing the point. " Humankind" does not offend me. In fact, in Portuguese the word is "humanidade". The point is that people are offended by "mankind", so they feel the need -- or better, feel entitled -- to change a word. This is a fine little mix of arrogance and idiocy.

In fact, I could very well live with "womankind"...

By the way @Moxie, you are one of the brave few who stand for PC around here. For a long time I was willing to open a serious thread about it. Maybe I will (haven´t read the rest of this thread yet, though).

Thanks for the props, @mrzz. I would say that you are wrong that people debate the word "mankind." I'd be surprised if that's high on the feminists' list. There are much larger (and smaller) battles to be fought. :) You're right that I am willing to fight the PC battle, and I'd be happy if you opened a more serious thread about it. Or we can just keep it going here. I think the notion of political-correctness is much maligned around here, (and in general) but not clearly understood. I'd love to discuss at more length.
