RE: Djokovic fires entire team - like Diogenes, looking for a new spark

First Becker and now Novak announces the split with Marian Vajda and all his team. My question is what this guy is looking for, the fountain of youth? trying to recovery his lost incredible energy and confidence? who knows

The Vajda split is a pretty huge move. He's been with Novak since 2006 and moved to the sidelines (but still stayed in the team) when Becker became Head Coach. Boom Boom gets his marching orders, Vajda becomes head coach again... and then this.

The fact that the whole fitness team and the coach get fired without any replacement lined up to replace them (to my knowledge) sounds like a decision based on emotion rather than logic or planning. Translation: Big row in the Djokovic camp... The King flexes his muscles and guillotines some heads...

Welcome back, brother, great to see you!

Yeah, ditching the lot of them without any fitness team lined up seems a bit aggressive. And don't forget the whole Bollywood/Russian lapdancers rumours from last year - maybe these help his fitness? :snicker

It seems a bit abrupt, but he's been treading water all year. Maybe he woke up and went Greta Garbo: I vonna be alone?

Thanks Kieran. Held back from replying until today until Kskate announced the site mergers, but will be good to re-unify things and add some extra.

I think Djokovic will hit the top again - I thought it would take a series of losses to give him a kick up the arse... but, I think there will be a bit more pain first before you seem him turn it around it properly. He'll be back though.

IMO Agassi is an excellent choice, they share very similar game style. Both have the best returns, and are excellent from the baseline so Agassi knows exactly how a baseline player needs to adjust in different situations.....and i think Agassi's insight is second to none. Also he is much more street wise than Becker, and would not be a publicity liability for Novak.

Agassi is the best choice there is.
True, just not sure they would get along personality wise and Agassi would be able to motivate Novak. Would Agassi even consider it? He has not previously

For a rumor, it's getting a lot of column inches on the internet...but what's the internet for, if not speculation? I, too, was wondering if Agassi would be game to leave his family and academy. But his kids are teenagers now, which means they specifically have no use for him atm. (LOL.) It's hard to know how much he's involved in the day-to-day of the academy. He might just be willing to give it a try for a bit. Djokovic declined to comment today when asked, but he didn't shut the idea down.

BTW, in his box today was Pepe Imaz and one of his brothers.

I agree that Agassi especially would figure to be a good fit if interested. And with some of these "supercoaches" it seems to be an unwritten understanding right now that they are there on a more temporary basis as in most won't travel all year round and they aren't going to be coaching the player for 10 years or even 5 years. So in that sense maybe Agassi would be interested to coach Nole or someone else for a year or two.

Paire is doing Paire things. Wins the second set 6-0 and is about to go down 5-1 in the decider

EDIT: Wrong thread. I guess I deserve the facepalm now.

Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Chang, Norman etc, all the supercoaches except Todd Martin have proven to be successful so odds are that Andre would make a good one for Novak. Also it's good they are not long term, as these former players don't want/need to go long term.

The morning Nole announced firing everyone, Roger and Rafa had a breakfast together on a terrace of Roger’s mansion on Schiffensee. While Rafa was about to bite into his second apfelstrudel that Roger kindly baked an hour earlier, Mirka stepped to the terrace bringing Baseler Allgemeine Zeitung and handed it to her husband. Roger glanced over it, raised his eyebrows in surprise and seconds later turned the page to Rafa who struggling with his third strudel said with his mouth full : “Ich verstand nicht, no?” Then Roger translated: “Novak fired his whole team!” Rafa replied with yet another question: “Couldn’t he just change the doctor, like normal people?”

It will be Agassi who will be joined by Sampras later, so you'll have both rivals in the same box.

Is this duplicate thread? Would you like to see Agassi and Sampras in Nole's box together?

Is this a personal guess or is something happening? There were a few reports last week mentioning Agassi, but I haven't heard anything about Sampras?

Tracy Austin and Paul Annacone, just speculating on TTC, didn't think Andre would leave his academy and his own kids, but Wertheim still has it on his list of speculations. Novak says he'll announce in just a few weeks.

Personal but also former Yugoslav Davis Cup Team Captain, from Zivojinovic and Prpic time, Armenulic thinks the same.

And Nole confirmed it. Great move IMO, this can speed up the process for Nole to get back to a consistently high level again.

I don't think it's dupe. One is probably from the TF site before the merge. Well half of your wish is true. Agassi has been confirmed as his new coach. They're talking about it on TC. I don't think Pete will join the team though.

Novak needs marriage counseling..Annacone alluded to the fact without saying it directly

As a spectator I'd like to see it because I enjoy drama and there'd be lots of it. But that's also the reason Nole or any player would be stupid to have both of them as coaches. We saw what they did at that IW exhibition a few years back, imagine that in the player box.

100% that's what's ruining his tennis imo. My personal guess is he's still cheating on his wife and the guilt is getting to him since she's pregnant. He already had marriage problems and having a second kid is NOT a good solution to the problem. He's just made things much worse. He played great against Thiem but probably met up with DeepDika last night and hence the shambolic performance today.

Sampras will join later when all becomes seemingly bau.
