Where is the poll for Alcaraz and Fritz I think they deserve a poll dont you?Novak Djokovic has been there and done that. He has 7 Wimbledon titles, and has been to the last 6 Wimbledon finals.
Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner is trying to break through at Wimbledon. He has won pretty much everywhere but here.
I voted Sinner in three, but they will be hard-fought. I can also see Sinner or Novak in four. Something like, from most to least likely:
30% Sinner in 3
25% Sinner in 4
15% Novak in 4
15% Novak in 5
10% Sinner in 5
5% Novak in 3
So Sinner to win, 65%.
Only 19 more to go to equal Roger's record of 23 consecutive Slam SFs.Jannik Sinner becomes the youngest player to reach the SFs in four consecutive GS Mens Single events since Nadal in 2009
Roger who lol!Only 19 more to go to equal Roger's record of 23 consecutive Slam SFs.
Novak's making his 3rd major SF! Most players never see that their entire careers, but while the old man's being talked down, he's still in the Semis!Only 19 more to go to equal Roger's record of 23 consecutive Slam SFs.
Your crystal ball is working over time I see? lol! This reminds me a lot of the 2012 Wimbledon semifinal between Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Federer was seen as an aging star, who had not won a slam in 2.5 years, while a 25-year-old Djokovic (who was not yet the unflappable force at Wimbledon) was ranked #1 in the world and widely seen as the favorite. That day, Federer gave Djokovic a tennis lesson, winning in 4 sets.
On Friday, Djokovic will return the favor (as the aging veteran) and hand Sinner (the much younger #1 ranked player) a tennis lesson. Djokovic has a vintage performance, winning in 4 sets.
As I said, Sinner will win Wimbledon one day, and earn his place in the Top 10 of the GOAT list. It's just not going to be this time.
That answer is so you.I voted Sinner in three, but they will be hard-fought. I can also see Sinner or Novak in four. Something like, from most to least likely:
30% Sinner in 3
25% Sinner in 4
15% Novak in 4
15% Novak in 5
10% Sinner in 5
5% Novak in 3
So Sinner to win, 65%.
Sinner has been pretty consistently good for rather a long time, though. He is #1 for a reason. OK, 2 days ago, not so much, when he fell and hurt his elbow, but when was the last time you thought he played poorly for long stretches in a match, or tournament?People are way overconfident on Sinner, and act as if it's impossible for him to lose a tennis match. It's like the final 3 sets of the French Open final, the Bublik match at Halle, or the Dimitrov match never even happened to them. I've seen Sinner play bad and that can last for sets at a time. I've seen Novak play bad for a set, but he seems to be able to correct it by the next set.
All I have to say is that Sinner better win this in 3 or 4. Because if it goes 5, there is no way Djokovic is going to lose, especially at this place. Remember, Djokovic has been there and done that many times over. Sinner has not, at least at Wimbledon. Djokovic also has the best track record in matches that go 5 sets. I believe he is 40-11 in such matches.
