Nick Bollettieri apparently passed over the weekend. Wow talk about a name on tennis.
He was undeniably a lightning rod back in the day, as some “purists” thought his approach/academy was ruining the game. In hindsight I think some of the criticism was unwarranted, and there was no denying his genuine love of the game and devotion to his players.

When I think of late 80’s & 90’s tennis, the iconic image of a suntanned Nick with shades always come to mind.

It was impossible not to think about the deep, corinthian leather of his suntan, and the funny voice. RIP.
