Serena Williams Wins Swedish Open

World No. 1 Serena Williams beat the No. 8 seed Johanna Larsson, of Sweden, in the final of the Collector Swedish Open, 6-4, 6-1.

It was Williams’ 53rd singles title, which ties her in fifth place, with Monica Seles, for the most tournament wins.

Also today, the Austrian Yvonne Meusburger defeated the Czech Andrea Hlavackova, 7-5, 6-2, in the final of the Nurnberger Gastein Ladies, in Bad Gastein, Austria.
